Thank you, from the bottom of my heart to all the teachers, staff, community members, students, friends, and family who supported my campaign. You were truly at the heart of this entire journey. Your support through donations of time, actions, conversations, and dollars was instrumental in getting us this far. Thank you for believing in me, lifting me up, and working alongside me. Thank you for supporting Matt Seeger for ISD 200, Matt Bruns for ISD 200, Brandy Wentzler ISD 200, and I, and trusting that we were candidates worthy of our district. was an incredible asset to this campaign and put in so much work to help us along the way. I will be forever grateful for this experience, the people I met, and the people I grew to love even more. I am proud to be a resident of this community and an alumni of ISD 200.

Congratulations to our member-elects, Matt Bruns, Melissa Millner, Jenny Wiederholt-Pine, and Philip Biermaier. Campaigning for our district with you and the other candidates was an honor. I know you will give your best to continue making this district something we can be proud of.

It’s Election Day, and no matter who you vote for, please vote! Your voice is important and it matters; most importantly it’s voting for those who can’t yet, the children in this community.

One of my favorite topics to study in history has always been Suffrage. The idea of living in a democratic society that not everyone was always allowed to vote in always intrigued me. 1875 was the first year in Minnesota that women could vote in elections but only for school board and library referendums. Since then enfranchisement for all has been a long hard climb and we’re not done yet. This year while still a voter, I’m on the ballot. It gives the history a different perspective and I’m taking it all in.

What Are Pronouns? Why Do They Matter? — Pronouns.org Resources on Personal Pronouns 10/19/2023

Today is International Pronouns Day.

Something as simple as using a person’s desired pronouns can go leaps and bounds towards creating an inclusive environment and show respect to that individual. It is important to recognize people by the pronouns that they prefer to acknowledge their identity.

As a cisgender female my pronouns align with the s*x I was assigned at birth. Therefore I go by She/Her pronouns. While this may also be the case for the majority of the population or even the people that you know, it isn’t the case for everyone. Personally I don’t appreciate being called by the wrong pronouns; If someone were to refer to me as He/Him that would be upsetting.

It doesn’t take much to recognize someone in the way that they choose to be addressed. At it’s core today is just about respect.

In talking with some voters recently, I received a question about where out-of-town district voters cast their ballots. For those of you who may be in the same boat, you can go to the Minnesota Secretary of State website, there you can enter your address to find out where you vote and when the next election in your area is taking place. I know we're all busy people so I thought I would save you a little time by posting the link here:

Thank you Saint Paul Regional Labor Federation and MN AFL-CIO for your endorsements!

From 1983 until his retirement in 2004, my Grandpa Ring served as the Business Manager/Financial Secretary of IBEW Local 160. He also served on every contract negotiation committee from 1962 until he retired - that’s 40 years of negotiation! He was proud to be a union member and instilled this pride in his children; my dad, his brothers, and his sister all signed the books as union members, and worked in the same industry my Grandpa did. Growing up in a Union family, I learned about the importance of collective voices working toward a common goal, and the importance of working together and strength in numbers. I once asked my Grandpa what a union was and why we needed them. I was young at the time, so he explained it in the simplest terms he could. He said it’s a group of people working together to make things better. As I got older I learned unions are more complex than that but ultimately that description was perfect. Union organizations advocate for better wages and working conditions for employees. They function as a democracy that elects it’s officers. Additionally, unions set a standard for workplaces that are often beneficial for non-union members as well.

Receiving these union endorsements is so important to me because I believe people should work together to find the best solution for everyone. Union ideals can be applied outside of the workplace in other areas of life. I believe if we take the time to listen to each other, we can find we’re often hoping to achieve the same goals, even if we have different opinions about how to get there.

Our schools would have a hard time operating smoothly without our incredible support staff. These are the people who feed our students, keep buildings clean and in working order, aid our teachers and students in the classroom, and provide office support. Without food service workers, custodians, paraprofessionals, and clerical workers, we would be missing an important piece of the puzzle. I am so thankful to have received their endorsement.

Thank you SEIU Local 284 for your support!

I am so excited to be endorsed by Education Minnesota/Hastings! I have always been thankful for the support I received in the classroom. I truly believe that we have some of the most incredible educators in our community who are passionate about their jobs and education.

To be supported by them once again as I run for school board is truly an honor. Thank you!
