Morgan Henning - Hartland-Lakeside School Board

Morgan Henning - Hartland-Lakeside School Board Re-elected to a 3-year term on the Hartland-Lakeside School Board. Serving our schools is personal to me.

Like many families, I experience our district both at ho

me and in the classroom, as a parent, a volunteer, and a neighbor. I believe strong districts are built when families feel heard, educators are supported, and decisions are made with care, transparency, and collaboration.

Welcome back to the Hartland-Lakeside School District community!

This year is a big one in our house! I've got one starting 4K, one heading into 2nd grade, and one starting 6th grade. That last one means we're navigating middle school for the first time, and I know a lot of other Hartland-Lakeside families are right there with us this year, in one transition or another.

Whether your student is just starting out or taking on something brand new, I hope this school year is off to a great start. I want to welcome back all our students, families, and staff.

I also want to remind families to look for the Hartland-Lakeside Education Foundation calendar, distributed at welcome conferences with your youngest student. It features student artwork, community sponsor support, and key dates to help your family stay connected to district events throughout the year.

I'd love to see how your family kicked off the year. Feel free to share your back-to-school photos in the comments!

I'm looking forward to another year of supporting our students, staff, and schools, and I'm grateful for the continued partnership of our families and community.

Here's to a successful 2026-27 school year!

The agenda is up for Wednesday's school board meeting, here's the rundown:

Buildings & Grounds Workshop (5:30 p.m.) – open to the public
The evening kicks off with a public workshop on the facility study that was completed for the district. This is the beginning of a longer process to figure out how to fit those findings into a 10-year plan. No decisions will be made Wednesday, just an open working conversation. The public is welcome to attend.

Board Reorganization
Following each spring election, the board reorganizes. That means Wednesday we'll elect new officers, Board President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Clerk. If you've been curious who leads the board going into next year, this is the night.

Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL) Summit & Capitol Update
Board member Chris Adsit, who serves on both the Hartland-Lakeside School Board and the Arrowhead Union High School District Board, recently attended the WILL School Board Summit (https://will-law.org/edsummit2026/) and spent a day at the Wisconsin State Capitol. He shared a recap at a recent Arrowhead board meeting, and he'll be giving a similar update to our board Wednesday night.

Food Service & Lakeside Academy Rate Adjustments
The board will discuss and potentially vote on pricing changes for the district's food service program (Fund 50) and Lakeside Academy (Fund 80) for the 2026–27 school year.

Superintendent's Report
Superintendent Vogelmann will share district updates.

The meeting follows the workshop and begins immediately after. Hope to see some of you there!

Today's the day! I'll be taking my oath of office tonight and getting to work on behalf of our kids and community. If you can make it out to North Shore Middle School, I'd love to see you there. Regular meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. — or watch live on YouTube.

And remember — public comment is YOUR chance to speak directly to the board and have your voice heard. All are welcome.

*Opinions expressed are my own and do not reflect the position of the HLSD Board of Education*

The next HLSD Regular Board Meeting is Monday, April 20th at North Shore Middle School (800 E. North Shore Drive). There is a closed board workshop that starts at 5:30 p.m. and the regular meeting follows at 6:30 p.m.

A few things on the agenda worth knowing about:

- My oath of office — I'll officially be sworn in for my new 3-year term at this meeting. After everything this community has done to get me here, this one means a lot.

- Board policy discussion — The board will be reviewing the board member code of conduct and conflict of interest policies. Transparency and accountability matter, and I'll be engaged in that conversation.

- Future enrollment — We'll be discussing projected student enrollment for the district. This has implications for staffing, programming, and budgeting down the road.

Can't make it in person? Watch live starting at 6:30 pm: youtube.com/channel/UC_Uqa_-_m7-QqfQPeT24dDg

I'm grateful for your support and excited to get back to work for our kids and community. See you Monday!

Hartland-Lakeside, I am overwhelmed with gratitude.

I am honored to have earned your trust for another term on the HLSD Board of Education. This community continues to show up, and that means everything. To everyone who voted, shared a post, or simply told a neighbor my name: thank you.

When I first joined this board, I came in as your neighbor, a Hartridge parent with kids in the district who just wanted to make sure our schools stayed excellent and our community's voice was heard. That hasn't changed. What has changed is how much deeper my commitment has grown through actually doing this work.

HLSD is a top district and keeping it that way takes engaged voters, involved families, and a board that stays focused on what matters. I am ready to get back to work and make sure we keep moving in the right direction.

To my family, thank you for sharing me with this community. I know it’s not always easy, but I do this for you.

Let's keep this district great. Together.

Today is Election Day!

Nick and I just cast our votes — and I still can’t get over seeing my name on the ballot!

If you live in the Hartland-Lakeside School District, I would love your vote today! Every vote matters in local elections. I know that better than anyone.

Polls are open until 8 PM. Go vote!

Tomorrow is a big day.

Yes, it's Election Day, but it's also the second round of Portrait of a Graduate interviews with 8th graders at North Shore Middle School, and honestly? I'm just as excited about that.

Over the course of tomorrow and Wednesday, I'll get to sit down with 9 students as they present their projects, share what they've learned, and reflect on how they've grown. Hearing who they are, what they care about, and where they're headed — that's why I do this. Not the meetings. Not the policy debates. This. Looking a kid in the eye and saying: we see you, we're listening, and we're building this district with your future in mind.

If you haven't seen the video from round one, watch this. These kids are something else.

If you believe that's what school board leadership should look like, I'd be honored to have your vote tomorrow.

Polls open at 7am and close at 8pm.
