General information
Today I read, tomorrow I lead! The Omega Institute of Learning is a program of the Omega Foundation of Hartford and is an early education support program focused on helping and encouraging children ages, 6 ‐ 8 and their families to read and enjoy reading. We believe promoting the idea of reading to a child and listening to a child read is important to a child’s development. The Institute of learning will provide on‐going hands on substantive and relevant support to enhance learning and help address the achievement gap in education.
The Black Men’s Health Project is a series of symposiums and subsequent health fairs addressing disparities in health for Black Men. The Foundation has partnered with Hartford Area Hospitals to execute the Black Men’s Health Project. The Health Project is a modest start toward creating healthier Black Men. The symposiums would address topics of specific interest to Black men and health issues and the mini health fairs would take place in the most heavily populated areas for Black Men. There are 17.3 million African American men in the United States, representing 48% of all African Americans in the US. Black men have some of the worse health indicators of all racial/ethnic groups, male or female.
