As we start the new school year we are learning about Back To School. We learned sign language words: teacher, school, bus, crayons, and more. We also read books about going to school. We learned to count with the help of my teachers. We counted school buildings, school buses, teachers, backpacks, and more. We love all the activities that we are doing in our new classrooms.

The children had a wonderful time celebrating with a variety of fun, hands- on activities! They practiced gross motor skills during ring toss, used creative expression while tie- dyeing hats and coloring summer pictures, and strengthened fine motor skills through play dough. They enjoyed pretend- play with the barn and farm animals, explored textures and shapes during our rock sensory activity, and had lots of fun during our rock sensory activity, and had lots of fun expressing themselves with face painting! 🎨🧢🪨🐄💖

We had so much fun on this beautiful Tuesday morning. One of our older toddler classes went for a walk this morning to look for rocks. We are learning about different types of rocks. We took a bucket and magnifying glasses to take a close look at what rocks we want to bring inside. Each child picked a few rocks to bring inside. Once we went back inside we put the rocks in a sensory bin with some water to wash the rocks so we can see how different the rocks look wet vs. dry.

This was a fun week here at Cadence in Hartford. This week we learned about different inventors. In three of our toddler classrooms learned about the x-ray. They learned who was the inventor, counted hand x-ray pictures, learned the sign language, and for art made their own hand x-rays. It was fun to learn that we can take a picture and see our bones. Isn't technology amazing. Who knows we may have some future inventors in our mist.

A special thank you to Senator McCrory for visiting our school! He spoke with the children about the importance of recycling and how we can all help to protect our environment. He also shared a wonderful story by reading a book about recycling to the children. We truly appreciate him taking the time to inspire our young learners and encourage them to care for our planet.
