NOT JUST FOR PE & HEALTH. Brain breaks can help students who get overexcited or have a hard time self-regulating. For example, a 2022 analysis of 14 studies found that students who took breaks of 10 to 90 minutes, such as going for a walk in the park, performed better on tests that measured attention and working memory.

Brain breaks can help students in the classroom by:

IMPROVING FOCUS: Breaks can help students refresh their minds and bodies, which can increase their energy and productivity.

REDUCING STRESS: Breaks can help students relax and calm down, which can make them more ready to focus again.

IMPROVING RECALL: Breaks can help students improve their memory.

TEACHING SELF-REGULATION: Breaks can help students learn to recognize when they're getting fed up or losing track of what they're doing.

IMPROVING PACING: Breaks can help teachers improve the pacing of their lesson while keeping their students refreshed and engaged.

With 11.3 million apple trees planted in the Mitten — on 825 family-run farms that produce more than a billion pounds of apples — Michiganders have a gazillion reasons to love-up and celebrate this iconic and delicious fruit. One of the easiest and most fun ways to celebrate apples happens on Apple Crunch Day, Oct. 12. Check out this class eating their apples today at 2:30!
