Ellen Myers is proud to showcase our grade level students of the week! These students had perfect attendance, they were kind, respectful and responsible. Congratulations to these students! We are so proud of you! 🐾

♻️🌎 Happy Earth Day! Our kindergarten students recently finished their Taking Care of Earth domain, and participated in a recycling project! Our students work hard and were so excited to show how they were taking things they would normally throw away, and reusing them as something else! 🌎♻️ REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE! ♥️

✏️EMPS Educator of the Week📚

This week’s post is dedicated to Ms. April Davis! Ms. April is the English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher for Claiborne County Schools. She visits Ellen Myers quite frequently and works with a number of our students to help them better learn and understand the English language. Her work is so important and we are so thankful for her contribution to our school!

Mrs. April says she is very glad to be able to be a part of this wonderful school!

This month Ellen Myers has honored our military families. We made a Wall of Honor with a star for all military family members. The star listed the name of the individual that is currently serving or retired from the military, the branch, and the student that is related to the individual. We also invited immediate family military members to join their child for our military breakfast. On April 20th we all wore purple to honor our military students. We have enjoyed recognizing our military students and their families this month and hope we have done our best to make them all feel special!

State testing begins tomorrow for grades 2-4.
Here are a few tips to do your best:
- Get plenty of sleep
- Eat a healthy breakfast
- Be on time
- Think positive

It’s almost testing time at Ellen Myers and our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students have been hard at work reviewing everything they’ve learned this year. Practice tests, games, egg hunts, you name it, we’ve done it! We believe our students are ready to CRUSH their tests during the next two weeks!

This week’s post is dedicated to Mrs. Sarah Goad. Mrs. Sarah teaches 3rd grade math. Mrs. Sarah is dedicated, passionate and one of the most thoughtful educators. Mrs. Sarah spends countless hours before and after school preparing her classroom for a wonderful learning experience for her students. EMPS is thankful for a hard working teacher as Sarah.

A word from Mrs. Sarah:

“I’ve always loved school. The day I finished kindergarten and went home for the summer, I cried my eyes out because I was going to miss it all so much. I love the structure and pace of school and how it makes so many kids feel comfortable and safe. My passion has always been to make kids feel like they can learn by asking questions and exploring skills. Third grade math is a brand new world for students and helping them navigate that is so fun for me. It feels like my niche and I hope to be in this position for a long time. “

Who's ready for Ellen Myers PTO 2nd Annual T-Shirt Design Contest?! We are SO excited to do this early, we can wear them all school year long! Students will design a shirt answering the question: What does Ellen Myers mean to you?

Guidelines will be sent home with students on Monday, August 21st. All entries are due Friday, September 1st! Entries are to be turned in to homeroom teachers. Remember, winner and their immediate family will receive free shirts! 👏

We are looking forward to seeing our students back bright and early tomorrow morning.
Here are a few reminders:
-Student drop off begins at 7:00am.
-Classes begin at 7:50am.
-Dismissal is at 2:50pm.
- Please use the dismissal line for pickup.
-No student will be dismissed through the office past 2:30pm.

After you have registered through our Parent Portal, the next steps are:
Report to the Club location that you have picked for your child/ren. Our staff will discuss the summary of licensing requirements, the Parent Handbook, and the parent letter regarding child abuse. You will have the option to take an on-site tour of the Club to see the facility and review the program policies and procedures prior to enrolling your child/ren. You will sign the member applications and complete a payment agreement form at this time.
