Congratulations Haley Schunk on your first career 25 straight in trap!

What a perfect place to accomplish this at while shooting at the John Halter Center at Hillsdale College. Haley went on to finish with a squad leading 90/100.

The Lakers had an awesome time this weekend down in Indiana. We weren’t able to bring home any trophies but a lot was learned and we’re happy to have spent the weekend shooting.

On Saturday, Charlie Jenkins had the opportunity to shoot off for high individual in the handicap event after posting a 46/50. He was beat by a very talented shooter but still came out as 2nd place overall in the event.

Sunday saw some less than desirable weather conditions for the sporting, s***t, and 5 stand portion of the weekend but the shooters fought through and had a great time, even in the pouring rain.

Overall, everyone did a great job, especially having to shoot 475 targets per student across the 2 day event.

Here’s a little sneak peek at what the Lakers are up to this weekend as we travel to Indiana to participate in the Hoosier Fall Classic hosted by Purdue University.

On Saturday, the team will shoot trap singles, handicaps, and doubles.

Sunday’s events see the team competing in s***t, 5-stand, and sporting clays.

We are very grateful for the opportunity to travel and can’t wait to try some new games.

The Lakers hit the midway point of the regular season seeing another great set of scores with the athletes settling into a rhythm.

With his first 25 straight of the season, Evan Campbell helped push the team forward with a 48/50 as Charlie Jenkins put up a pair of 24s to match the 48/50 for the top scores of the week.

We saw lots of consistency this week with the rest of the club putting up great numbers under pressure with:

Week 2 of competition showed another great set of scores from the Lakers athletes. We were able to take the top spot in the conference for the week, narrowly beating some great competitors.

Not skipping a beat, Lily Ward once again led the team with another 49/50. Through the first couple weeks of competition, she has found herself in the top group of athletes across the country both in conference and the entire league.

Helping push the team to the top this week were some great scores by the rest of the squad including Drew Adsit’s first 25 straight.

Congratulations are in order for freshman Drew Adsit who shot his first ever 25 straight during week 2 of competition. He’s been doing a great job and we’re glad to see him achieve this milestone.

With Competition week 1 coming to a close, the Lakers picked up where they left off last season and came out swinging.

Lily Ward led the charge with a 49, only dropping one target on the night.

The rest of the squad backed her up with very respectable scores across the board

The 2025 season is officially underway and we are off to a fantastic start.

This year we have decided to branch out from our normal trap-only schedule and take on a few multi-discipline invitationals.
We will be traveling to Indiana on Oct 18th to shoot at the Hoosier Fall Invitational for trap, s***t, sporting clays, and 5 stand.
On Oct 25th, the Lakers head to Hillsdale college to compete in the MI College Tri-State shoot where they’ll shoot trap, s***t, and sporting clays at the Halter shooting Sports Center

While none of the athletes on the squad have competed outside of trap, they have gotten some exposure to the different disciplines thanks to the help of Doug and Dave from the Marion Rod and Gun Club. We are very excited to get some extra travel in this season and see how we can compete in new events.
