The Center for Discovery At The Center for Discovery, people with disabilities work hard to find a way forward as they shape lives of meaning. What happens here matters everywhere.

We are changing the way autism and other complex medical conditions are treated, by way of residential, medical, clinical, vocational, & special education programs. The supports we offer are grounded in the land and our community of care and education, which for many years has integrated food and farming, science and research, and health and wellness. We are a vibrantly successful program that encourages people with intellectual and physical challenges to defy expectations, while simultaneously evolving new models for living.

Last night, we had the honor of celebrating Dr. Terry Hamlin, President and CEO of The Center for Discovery, as she received the Walter A. Rhulen Award from the Sullivan County Partnership for Economic Development.

Terry’s visionary leadership, unwavering dedication, and commitment to improving the lives of others have made an extraordinary impact on The Center and on Sullivan County as a whole.

A heartfelt thank you to Terry’s family, our TCFD community, Board members, business partners, and friends who joined us to celebrate this well-deserved recognition.

New ways to move, build, create, and PLAY at ! Thanks to the generosity of The Toy Foundation, The Center recently received a new tricycle for the Children’s Specialty Hospital and a set of Big Blue Foam Play Blocks! These new additions offer fun and engaging opportunities for movement and exploration for the children we serve. We’re so grateful for this generous support and for the joy these new additions will bring!

This past weekend, residents joined the community for the ALLYSON WHITNEY FOUNDATION 5K supporting young adults with cancer! We’re always proud to show up and support amazing local nonprofits that make our community so special. Shop for a cause! Join us at Burberry in SoHo on Wednesday, October 7 from 6–9pm for a special evening of shopping in support of The Center for Discovery. Enjoy passed beverages and canapés while shopping Burberry’s latest collections, with 10% of event proceeds donated to TCFD.

The evening is graciously hosted by PeiJu Chien-Pott and TCFD Board Chair Michael Dubilier. We’re so grateful for their support and for everyone who joins us in celebrating our mission!

Congratulations to our September - Senior Teacher, Deven! Deven brings our SynergE6 framework to life by creating meaningful, community-based learning experiences for students across . From field trips and outings to hands-on experiences, Deven always creates opportunities for students to practice skills in real-world settings, build confidence, explore new interests, and become more active participants in their communities. She also helps create opportunities for students and teachers across campus. Thank you, Deven - congrats!

Today, we proudly celebrated Cindy Boothe, Senior Residential Associate and longtime member of our family, as she was honored by the Sullivan County Legislature for her extraordinary compassion, dedication, and more than four decades of service in direct care. As Dr. Terry Hamlin, President & CEO, shared, “You don’t come across people too often in your life who you can say truly impacted you as a person - and Cindy has done that for me.” The celebration came during , as the Sullivan County Legislature also recognized September 13–19 as Direct Support Professionals Week, honoring the invaluable contributions DSPs make throughout our community.

We are so proud to have Cindy as part of our TCFD team - and so grateful for all of our DSPs who make a difference every day.
