🌾 HARPER FFA CHAPTER PARTY! 🌾

Come join us for an afternoon of swimming, food, and fun! This is a great chance to kick off the year, meet Mr. Ricks, and get to know each other better!

Dinner: Tacos will be provided!
Feel free to bring a side dish or drink to share if you’d like.

📍Directions:
When you arrive, you’ll come to a road at the bottom of the hill. Turn left and continue straight until you see a line of three trees on your right. Turn up the hill there, and you’ll see the pavilion. Parking is available either to the right of the pavilion or below the dam of the pond underneath the trees.

What to Bring:

A towel and/or a camp chair to sit on.
A life jacket if you are not a strong or confident swimmer.

Important Reminders:

‼️A signed parent safety waiver is required to swim. No waiver = no swimming.

Family members are welcome! We’d love for everyone to come. It’s a great opportunity for Mr. Ricks to get to know students and families, and for everyone to get to know him!

Meet Mrs. Sharp, our new Math Teacher:

Hello, Harper community!

I’m Mrs. Sharp, and I’m excited to be joining the amazing students, staff, and families at Harper this year.

This will be my 12th year teaching math, and I couldn’t be more excited to continue that journey at Harper. I truly enjoy helping students build confidence, think critically, and discover they are capable of more than they realize. My goal is to create a classroom where students feel supported, challenged, and encouraged to grow—not just academically, but as individuals.

I grew up in a small farming community in eastern Washington, attended Eastern Washington University, and moved to Vale with my husband in 2019.

When I’m not at school, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family, riding horses, working in my leather shop, or enjoying the outdoors.

I’m looking forward to getting to know the students and their families, becoming part of the Harper community, and making this a fantastic school year. Go Hornets!

Meet Mr. Anderson, one of our new High School teachers.

Hi! I’m Mr. Anderson. I am so excited to be back in Harper!
I've been married to my wife, Amanda, for 15 years and I have five children. Three sons and two daughters. I grew up in Harper and love spending time on the ranch. I enjoy a wide variety of activities such as skiing, camping, rock climbing, horseback riding, backpacking and being with my family.

I enjoy participating and coaching many different sports and clubs including science clubs, wrestling, rugby, football, track, and more.
I have enjoyed teaching multiple subjects in Nyssa Middle School for the last six years however, I am excited to be at Harper and to contribute to my home community. Look forward to the 26-27 school year with the Harper Hornets!

Meet Maci Osborn:

My name is Maci Jae Osborn. Being a part of FFA this year has given me the opportunity to show a Market Ewe, Kesha. Although this is my first year showing at the fair, I have been involved in the FFA program for nearly three years, and I have truly enjoyed every moment of it. FFA has become a significant part of my life and has given me the opportunity to learn more about agriculture. I hope to continue using the knowledge and skills I have gained throughout high school and carry them with me into my future. I believe it is important to develop a strong understanding of agriculture, especially for those who are considering pursuing a career in the agricultural industry.

One of my greatest strengths is my ability to communicate with others and offer help whenever I can. I genuinely enjoy helping people to the best of my ability, and I have always enjoyed meeting and talking with others. While I may not know the answer to every question, I will always be honest about what I do know and share my knowledge and understanding to the best of my ability.

Meet Josie Taylor:

Hello my name is Josie Taylor and this year I am showing a Breeding Ewe, Lemon. This is my first year showing and being in FFA. This year I am also taking a market lamb in 4-H.

One thing I have learned from showing is patience. While showing you have to be patient with your lamb. A fun fact about me is I got grand champion 4-H market lamb in 2024.

Meet Mr Ricks, our new Agriculture/FFA Advisor:

Hi! I’m Mr. Ricks. I am married to my wonderful wife Malerie, and I have a son named CJ. I grew up farming and love spending time outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and being with my family.

I was involved in FFA and showed pigs at the fair growing up. I’m excited to be in Harper and can’t wait to help students learn, grow, and have fun along the way!

Meet William Taylor:

Hello, my name is William Taylor! I am showing both a Market Lamb, Wade, and a Breeding Ewe, Thing One in FFA this year. This is gonna be my 4th year showing in FFA and my 8th year showing lambs.

Meet Warren Taylor:

Warren is showing a Breeding Ewe, Penelope, in FFA this year and it is also his first year showing in FFA, but his 5th year being apart of FFA. Warren is also going to be showing in 4-H at Fair.

Over his time showing sheep Warren has learned lots about being patient and calm in all situations. A little fun fact about Warren is that he is the one who works to put together all of the FFA posts and get it out to the public, and he is excited about the year that he gets to make them!
