Random facts about Jenn :

** I am a 37-year-old originally from Pennsylvania, but have lived in this great state of Indiana for 10 years now! (People in IN are much friendlier than they were in PA. We fell in love with this culture right away!)

** I have an amazing husband and 4 awesome boys that I educate at home. They are full of energy and keep me on my toes at all times! Their ages are 11, 9, 7, & 18 months!

** I have a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology and minor in Civic and Community Engagement.

** With my degree I served as a therapist to children, adolescents, marriage and family, substance abuse, and many other genres. I also worked as a Behavioral Specialist and Emotional Support Therapist in schools.

** A couple of years ago I opened a boutique downtown Madison on Main St. called Redeeming Grace Co. We sold women’s clothing and Christian attire we made ourselves and prayed over! It was AMAZING to get to know and love on people in the community! I met some awesome people in that year!

** A random passion of mine is I LOVE Real Estate. Seeing something that was once beautiful but now broken and making it beautiful again brings me to life!

** One of my biggest passions in life is for this next generation! I have a fire inside of me to fight for this generation to make sure they’re safe and get the best chance at this life they can get!

"Back to the Basics with Burgert"

It is so important that our public schools get back to the basics right now. What is really needed is family involvement, a laser focus on education ensuring that the main focus is on children learning reading, writing and arithmetic. That the teachers have the support they need to create a healthy and thriving environment for students to learn in, and safety for all students both physically and emotionally.

Did you know that the statistics are showing an alarming rate of students under proficiency in many areas of education across the country with Jefferson County being one of them.

What might be the cause of this?

There are a couple of possibilities, but it's important to vote someone on the school board who is willing to look into these sort of issues and make sure the students can thrive and the teachers are supported!

Let’s work this year to see that proficiency rate increase across the board!

Parents, my heart as a potential school board member of Southwestern School District is to be an advocate for you and your children. You have a voice and it matters. There isn't a voice that matters more in your child's life then you as a parent or guardian.

Having your children in a public school does not mean you can't make important decisions for them! But I know it sometimes gets hard juggling all the things!

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita compiled an entire book of parental rights and explanations to help parents understand their role as their child is enrolled in public school. I've been reading through and getting an understanding on all of these so I can better serve the parents at Southwestern.

Here are just a couple of other questions answered in the book:
1. What are the roles of local school boards, superintendents, and principles?
2. How are Indiana academic standards and curriculum established?
3. Can children be taught certain curricula or instruction without parental consent?
4. What is Critical Race Theory?
5. Is SEL (Social/Emotional Learning) mandatory in Indiana schools?
6. Who has the authority to make medical decisions for children?
7. What is required in schools for children with qualified disabilities?
8. Can a school teach my child about human sexuality without my consent?
9. Can my child be prescribed birth control without parental consent?

We have so much on our plate as parents. Rest assured if I am on the Southwestern School Board, I will be doing my research in making sure you are best served and have all the knowledge you need to help your child thrive!

Hello! My name is Jenn and I’m running for the Southwestern School Board! Here’s a couple bullet points about why I think I’d be a great addition to the school board! If these value align with you I’d love your vote!

1. I’m an advocate for kids.

No matter what, the children should be safe and in a thriving environment. Kids come first before all other policies and money. They are “the school” and THE FUTURE!

Curriculum matters. Policies matter. Bullying matters. Their education and experience as a whole matter!

2. The curriculum around the world HAS changed to groom children in a certain way of thinking. I’m here to make sure Southwesterns hasn’t and won’t!

Many schools around the country are pushing to teach very inappropriate things that don’t line up with Christian values and even toeing the line of grooming the kids in a manipulative way.

Christian or not, many parents won’t agree on their kids being taught in this way. My goal would be to make sure that would never happen to the children at Southwestern!

An example of this is not trying to implement prayer or Bible reading in schools but instead take OUT or PREVENT all of the transgenderism and confusion that’s being taught to children where parents don’t approve. To help get back to the basics of learning education instead of the social/emotional learning the government wants teachers to focus on.

Also, the pornographic material that is offered and sometimes pushed in English classes and the school library. (Yeah did you know about that?!)

3. My heart is for the parents to be more involved.

There was a day and age where parents felt they could send their kids to school and trust the schools. That time has come to an end and I want to help parents understand what their children are being taught and what their parental rights are (there are SO MANY).

I know as a parent you are busy with your own work, running kids to sports, dinner, and family time. That’s where I come in. I’ve been doing the research for you and will help you understand all the ins and outs, while providing the
documentation to back it up!

Before you think, that doesn’t happen at my school, there are laws being put in place from the Department of Education (a federal agency running the public schools) that I believe MANY of you parents wouldn’t agree with!

4. I have a heart to fight for what is right!

I’ve never been on a school board, but when I care about something I’ll go the extra mile to fight for it! I’m willing to fight for these kids and you as parents! You have a voice and it matters. It’s your children at the school. They are not government property! It’s time to take back the schools for your children and you as parents!

I’d be here for questions, concerns, ideas, or whatever it is you need! One thing I do know is the school board works for YOU parents and YOU tax payers in the community!

Thank you so much for stopping by my page! I hope through following along you find encouragement, answers, and see why I believe I'd be a great addition to the school board of Southwestern School District!

Throughout the next couple of months I will allow you to get to know me, my heart, and my why. But equally as important, I want to hear from you. I want to give you an opportunity to ask questions, voice concerns or changes you’d like to see, and give advice and ideas.
