The PTA is conducting its annual membership drive for the 2026-2027 school year! Being a member of the PTA holds no obligation to volunteer or attend meetings. You are simply supporting the events, programs, and materials the PTA provides for the school each year. Membership dues are $10 per person and $15 for a family.

Congratulations to SGE's very own Rebecca Mann for being awarded Cafeteria Manager of the Year!
Way to go!!!!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

"Rebecca Mann was awarded the Maryland School Nutrition Association (MdSNA) Manager of the Year on August 13 at the MdSNA State Convention. Rebecca was nominated in May by her peers and the Food Service Office to represent Carroll County and her nomination was selected from other Maryland County nominees as the Maryland Winner. Rebecca will move forward in the Spring as Maryland’s nominee in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Contest.

Rebecca creates inviting and positive experiences in both North Carroll Middle and Spring Garden Cafeterias. She greets students with kindness and acknowledges them by name. Rebecca listens to the stories shared by the students and will give out a hug or a fist bump when she knows they are having a bad day. She is passionate about ensuring that students with special dietary needs enjoy a comparable, if not identical, meal as the rest of the students. Rebecca was critical to the success of the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) at North Carroll Middle School. She established a pickup protocol for this site to ensure a smooth operation, despite the physical challenges within the two-story aging building which was undergoing roof renovation. The site was one of the largest in the district serving 2,500 meals per week over the summer to children who previously did not have access to meals during the summer.

She has been a manager for 14 years and during that tenure has achieved the highest level of School Nutrition Association (SNA) Certification for a school nutrition manager. She creates a pleasant work environment for staff in both kitchens and encourages all to take initiative and make decisions that will improve operations and help her meet the common goal of feeding children. She makes time to help employees grow professionally and mentors them on the certification process.

Carroll County is so proud of this acknowledgement of Rebecca’s achievements and excellent service to students!"

Reminder - Chalking tonight! Hopefully it doesn't storm and wash the art away (very Mary Poppins-esque).

ALERT!!! We need your help to SURPRISE our kiddos on their last day of school. Please come out to CHALK THE WALK this week. Tuesday evening (6/9) we'll decorate the BACK sidewalk for Wednesday's 5th grade farewell. Thursday evening (6/11) we'll chalk the front and side walks (parent drop-off and bus drop-off sidewalks) for Friday's last day of school. So please grab a friend and come as your schedule allows (any time after dismissal) - Be sure to BYO chalk!!
