This is a great opportunity for the wrestlers at any level to meet a college coach. The money goes towards season tickets for UNC. They are doing an out reach program all across North Carolina. NC LEGEND staff will be there to assist all levels.

45 KIDS. 45 NEW WRESTLERS. ONE AWESOME DAY! 🤼‍♂️🔥

What a day at NC Legend Training Center!

We had 45 kids step on the mat for the very first time this weekend — and they absolutely crushed it!

These football players and cheerleaders came in not knowing exactly what to expect, and they jumped right in. They listened, worked hard, tried new things, and most importantly… THEY HAD FUN!

Our NC Legend coaches were blown away by their focus, effort, and willingness to try something completely new.

That is what wrestling is all about.

It's not about being the toughest kid in the room on Day 1. It's about being willing to step onto the mat, learn something new, get uncomfortable, and keep going.

A HUGE thank you to all the parents who trusted us with their kids, and to the football and cheer coaches who helped make this happen.

We hope we created 45 new wrestling fans this weekend. ❤️💪

And who knows…

Maybe we just met the next NC Legend. 🐐

When I moved down here after coaching for more than two decades in Pennsylvania, I thought I was taking a step back from coaching.
I had accomplished everything I had set out to accomplish. I had coached state champions, built successful teams, and spent years pushing wrestlers toward the highest levels of the sport.
I thought maybe that chapter of my life was coming to an end.
Instead, stepping away for a while helped me discover a whole new love for wrestling.
I found myself falling in love with something I had overlooked for years—the beginning.
Helping a 5-year-old learn how to wrestle.
Hearing them giggle nonstop on the mat.
Having 3-4 kids jump on my back after practice.
Watching a 7-year-old finally hit a move they've been struggling with.
Seeing a 12-year-old gain confidence and start believing in themselves.
Watching a young wrestler learn that losing doesn't mean they aren't good enough—it means they have another opportunity to grow.
For so many years, I was focused on developing elite wrestlers.
Now, I realize that helping a child fall in love with wrestling may be just as important as helping them become a champion. It is definitely more fun!
That is a big part of why I started NC Legend Training Center.
We want to develop great wrestlers, but more importantly, we want to develop confident, hardworking kids who learn how to handle adversity, compete, work together, and believe in themselves.
Some will become state champions.
Some will compete at the highest levels.
Some will just fill a varsity spot for their team
Some may wrestle for a few years and move on to something completely different.
And that's okay.
If they leave wrestling stronger, more confident, and with memories they will carry with them for the rest of their lives, then we have done our job.
Wrestling has given me more than I could ever put into words.
Now it's my turn to give back. I”m so blessed that so many coaches feel the same way at Legend!
