Yesterday, some Pink Potion Society girls put their brain power to the test at our BuildHER Civil Engineering Workshop, and wow… they showed up in the best way.
The girls were challenged to think like real engineers from the very beginning. They formed their own teams, created a plan, and managed a budget to bring their ideas to life. Every decision mattered. Would they spend more on supplies or invest in “insurance” to protect their build? Real-life choices with real consequences.
And just like in the real world… things didn’t always go as planned.
They faced unexpected challenges like employees “walking off the job,” forcing them to work with fewer resources. Snow days “canceled work time,” meaning they had to build faster under pressure. But instead of giving up, they adapted, collaborated, and kept going.
Throughout the workshop, they explored civil engineering concepts while taking on fun, fast-paced challenges. From building the tallest index card tower in under a minute, to designing aluminum foil boats to test how much weight they could hold, every activity gave them opportunities to earn more funds and strengthen their final bridge designs.
By the end of the day, it was time for the ultimate test… how much could their bridges withstand?
The creativity in the room was incredible. Every design was different. Every team brought something unique. And the most beautiful part? No one lost. When these girls come together, their ideas grow, their confidence builds, and their teamwork shines.
We learned something even more important than engineering … nothing is perfect on the first try.
Failure is not the end… it is a lesson. A stepping stone. A pathway to growth.
These girls proved that with a little creativity, resilience, and teamwork… they can build anything.
As always, thank you to the girls of FTC Steel Sirens 9661 for volunteering their time and showing younger girls that we truly can rule the world.

💖 Pink Potion Society Turns ONE! 💖
One year ago, what started as a Girl Scout Gold Award project grew into something bigger, a mission to show girls that STEM can be creative, colorful, and completely YOU.
Today we celebrate the first birthday of Pink Potion Society, and it just so happens to fall on the birthday of the incredible organization that inspired it all 💚 Girl Scouts.
Pink Potion Society was created to remind girls that they don’t have to change who they are to belong in science, technology, engineering, or math.
You can love:
💖 glitter and chemistry
🌸 beauty and biology
💻 coding and creativity
🤖 robotics and pink
Even now, stereotypes still exist in STEM. Some of my own school projects have been called “too pink” or “unprofessional.”
Little do they know those comments didn’t discourage me , they fueled me. They pushed me to work even harder to challenge the social expectations and stereotypes that still exist in this field.
Because professionalism in STEM isn’t defined by neutral colors or masculine aesthetics. Creativity, intelligence, and innovation come in every color, yes including pink.
In just one year, Pink Potion Society has helped girls explore STEM with confidence, creativity, and curiosity. And this is only the beginning.
The future of STEM is bright… and maybe a little pink.🩷
Happy 1st Birthday Pink Potion Society
and Happy Birthday Girl Scouts, the spark that started it all.

Not only is it National Women in STEM Day, it’s also our founder’s 17th birthday! Could this be anymore fitting?!
Happy Birthday, Brooklynn🩷
The heart behind the pink lab coats, the glitter experiments, the hands-on STEM magic, and the belief that girls can love science and still love sparkle.
Help us wish our founder a very happy birthday 💕
The future is bright… and yes, it’s pink.

You may have noticed a brief pause in activity! I promise you big things have been happening for Pink Potion behind the scenes. I have been selected for a national award and as soon as I get back home we are back to regular and better programming! I cannot wait to share more. Stay tuned for our next March event. 🩷
Congratulations to Brooklynn Warner, HHMS Junior, on this incredible achievement! 💜⭐️
Brooklynn was recently named a 2026 NCWIT Aspirations in Computing High School Award National Winner, placing her among the top 40 high school students in the nation selected from more than 2,700 applicants nationwide. She was selected as the 2026 Louisiana State Winner, and her application advanced to the national level, where she was selected as one of the top 40 students across the United States. Brooklynn is the 3rd high school student in the state and 1st student from Tangipahoa Pairsh to receive this national honor
Through a partnership between NCWIT and Bank of America, Brooklynn will attend an all-expenses-paid national awards celebration in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she will be recognized alongside other national winners from across the country and receive additional prizes and recognition later this month. It is here where she will represent HHMS, Tangipahoa Parish Schools, and her own Non profit entity.
Brooklynn’s journey in computing, robotics, leadership, and community outreach, including her work through founding of The Pink Potion Society which provides free STEM events for young girls, has been shaped by the support and opportunities available at Hammond High Magnet School.
She would also like to extend her sincere gratitude to the Williams family—Jean, Lauren, and Ben Williams—who have encouraged her to be her authentic self and supported her growth as an aspiring engineer. Their mentorship has helped her embrace both her passion for engineering and her belief that there is space in STEM for creativity, individuality, and being unapologetically yourself.
