This past week, our STEM Scholars wrapped up an incredible residency, closing out with a showstopping Scholar Showcase on June 11th!
This cohort dove deep into the future of energy, exploring wind and hydrogen as they developed and delivered professional pitch presentations. Along the way, scholars connected with industry professionals from across our community, learned directly from university professors, and were guided by our amazing Near Peer mentors every step of the way.
The cherry on top? Scholars earned their Microenterprise Industry-Based Credential, a real-world certification that sets them apart as they build toward their futures.
We are so proud of the hard work, curiosity, and creativity these scholars brought to the table. The future of Louisiana's STEM workforce is bright, and these students are proof!
Building the Future Louisiana STEM Workforce Together.
Thank you to our incredible instructors and professors: Ms. Elizabeth Kimball in Chemistry, Ms. Jerri Hannible in Biology, Ms. Heather Jackson in Communications, Dr. Millard McElwee in Physics, and our fearless leader, Dr. Troy Williams.
Of course we also would like to thank Greater New Orleans, Inc. (GNO, Inc.) and the H 2 the Future Economic Initiative for their continued support as well as our community members for volunteering their time, expertise and experiences.

Southeastern Northshore STEM Center was with NorthShore Robotics, A Louisiana STEM 501c3 at the 2026 STEMFest!
Our community showed up โ rain and all! ๐ง๏ธ
This past Saturday, the Southeastern Northshore STEM Center was proud to be part of the Northshore Robotics STEMFest in Covington. Hot, muggy, and rainy โ but none of that stopped our incredible community from coming out in force to explore, learn, and engage in hands-on STEM activities.
We featured two of our flagship competitions, and the energy was electric. Families explored underwater ROV building through SeaPerch and discovered the world of original scientific research through the Region VIII Science & Engineering Fair. A huge thank you to everyone who braved the weather and made the event a success! ๐
Visit selu.edu/stemcenter for more information about either of these events. Links for registering for events and requesting kits are down in the comments.
