GECO Graduate English and Communication Organization at Purdue University Northwest

Rationale:
According to our preliminary research, most of the graduate students in the English and Communications departments were not actively recruited. This means that our programs are not meeting their full potential because we are missing prospective students that could have made our programs stronger. Graduate students need support in order to be successful during and after the completion of

the master’s degree. GECO can help fill the gap and ease some of the burden from professors in the departments. The English and Communications graduate students currently do not work together, even though our fields overlap in significant ways. This organization would increase collaboration and networking between the two departments.
