Southeastern STEM Scholars

They came for the STEM. They stayed for the Lion Up. 🦁

Three cohorts, four parishes, and four future STEM degrees, all starting freshman year at Southeastern this fall. These STEM Scholars alumni are proof that when students get an early look at what's possible, they don't just leave. They come home to campus.

Rural. Powerful. Unstoppable.

Rural no longer means limited opportunity. Dr. Troy Williams breaks down how STEM Scholars gives students from the northshore region and surrounding areas hands-on access to labs, equipment, and industry experiences many wouldn't otherwise get and why that access changes futures.

This is what regional talent pipeline building looks like: students gaining skills, confidence, and a clear line of sight to future high demand high wage careers right here at home.

Proud to have Jordan Smith-Kenning and Troy Williams represent Southeastern College of Science and Technology and Southeastern Northshore STEM Center at WorkforceNEXT (hosted by Louisiana Association of Business and Industry) last week! Jordan shared how the FUEL STEM Scholars internship cohort is employing 20 high school students from Tangipahoa and St. Helena Parishes in meaningful work thanks to partnerships with Ampirical Solutions and Intralox LLC and supported by Future Use of Energy in Louisiana and Greater New Orleans, Inc. (GNO, Inc.) through H2theFuture funding.

Real internships. Real skills. Real regional impacts.

Thank you to Future Use of Energy in Louisiana and Southeastern Northshore STEM Center for making this week possible!
