My familiar is, without question, this 27 year old parrot named Zeus who I absolutely cannot imagine living even one day without 🥰

Hey y’all! My name is Anna, I’m 40, an AuDHD chaos goblin, mom, gardener, activist, and Halloween enthusiast! The best spooky fun fact about me is that in 2012 I called off my October 27th wedding and went out with friends for Halloween dressed as a zombie bride instead 🧟‍♀️ I have painted this costume before (image 5) as it was the first BIG step I ever took toward living unapologetically as myself, and have taken several opportunities to zombie myself since— at an “end of the world” party December 2012 (image 4), with my kid as zombie princesses Halloween 2015 (not shown), for a fall festival in 2022 (image 3), and in my drawlloween intro 2 years ago (image 6) but if I’m REALLY honest, zombies —especially fast zombies— really unglue me! 🫢 Despite being an avid horror movie fan since childhood, it took me until 2023 to even watch The Walking Dead! 🤫

pansexual Pride flag features… obviously the Bonobo Monkey! Our closest relative, most recently discovered great ape; and the ONLY animal besides humans to:engage in frequent, nonproductive schmex 😆 As a species who uses schmex in place of violence/aggression to: settle disputes, enforce harmony, socialize, bust boredom… they felt like a good mascot for a sexual orientation that “enjoys receiving presents without much regard or preference for what’s inside” 😉

some fun facts about clown fish: While functionally hermaphroditic, their colonies are lead by a female of a pair and should she die, her mate will transition to it’s female genitalia/functions to take over. That’s about as close as we get to “nonbinary” in the animal world, I’m afraid, but I think it works okay! Bonus? We can all revisit this gem of a song by the SO talented (who I believe also identifies as nonbinary. See how it all ties together so beautifully?!) 🥰

This portrait is of Zuri an AFAB lion at who in 2021 began producing more male hormones than female after the death of their pride’s male Lion. Zuri took on the role of the deceased male and was known to be a strong leader by all. Unfortunately, Zuri passed in 2023 at age 19 due to renal failure. Rest in power, Zuri 💗

While Zuri may not have made a conscious, intentional, decision to transition GENDERS, as gender is a human social construct, they did however intentionally take on masc. social roles in the pride, which lead to a natural increase in male hormones in their body! Isn’t nature amazing? 🤩🏳️‍⚧️

In a climate where SO many refuse to acknowledge the existence of trans people at all, and where even in otherwise open and affirming spaces— especially medical offices!— trans men, transmasc., and AFAB trans folk at all points along the spectrum are specifically and uniquely discriminated against; Zuri felt like EXACTLY the right mascot for the trans pride flag in my series! 🩵🩷🤍

generally aligns with the vast majority of my values and political opinions; but as a millennial feminist who has a lot of trouble relating to the first-wave icons who struggle with intersectionality and TERFy nonsense; I deeply appreciated this femme-power one-liner! 💪🏻

1 in 3 Sudanese civilians have been displaced since the conflict between SAF & RSF (both Sudanese government factions) broke out in April of 2023.
That amounts to 13 MILLION people, the majority of whom are internally displaced and remain in Sudan making this the LARGEST internal displacement crisis in human record.

Eatizaz Yousif, herself displaced three times since 2023, has been fighting alongside her team at as the country director for Sudan since day 1 to bridge gaps between her fellow Sudanese and the essential goods and services they desperately need. She was instrumental in establishing emergency response teams within the first month of the conflict, without internet or banks!
Eatizaz was quoted by saying
“As Sudanese, we are pretty resilient. But this is beyond our resilience,”

Eatizaz is the hero the people of Sudan need in their time of crisis and absolutely deserves a place of pride in my protest art series! Having said that, art can’t do much to help famine and disease, but we all *CAN* by donating to IRC (links on their page, which is tagged above!), or who have both been working tirelessly to help the people of Sudan in their time of need.

[ ] Volodymyr Zelenskyy stands in lock step with his troops against the overwhelming threat of Russian fascism and says things like “when you attack us you will see our faces, not our backs.” Like a damned BOSS! 💪🏻
