Sometimes you just wish your girl could see herself the way you see her. đŸ©·

Especially when she starts comparing herself to everyone else.

She’s better than me.
Why can’t I do it like she can?
Maybe I’m just not good at this.

Comparison has a way of making our girls forget how much they’re learning, growing, and becoming.

This week in Sunday Glow, we’re talking about staying in your own lane, especially when you’re new at something and it feels like everyone else is already ahead.

Because she doesn’t need to be where anyone else is.

She just needs the space and grace to keep becoming her.

Sunday Glow is a free weekly ritual for girls + their parents.

Community is at the heart of everything we do.

One of my favorite things about our gatherings is how quickly meaningful connections begin to form. Time and time again, girls and parents ask, “When’s the next one?” because they’ve experienced something that feels safe, nourishing and expansive.

Let’s be honest
there aren’t many spaces where girls can simply show up, be themselves, and know they belong.

Since our very first event, I’ve wanted to create a way for that feeling to continue long after everyone heads home. That’s how Sunday Glow was born.

Every Sunday, girls receive a short, encouraging email with a story, reflection, challenge, and journal prompt to help them begin the week feeling confident, connected, and believing a little more deeply in who they are and what they’re capable of.

Alongside it is a Parent Companion, a brief email designed to help parents continue the conversation at home and strengthen the connection they’re building with their daughters.

Whether your daughter has attended an Illuminate event or is just discovering our community, she’s welcome here. We’d love for her to join us.

Links are in comments to sign up for both Sunday Glow and the Parent Companion. All are welcome.

My biggest takeaways from Saturday:

Kindness, Compassion and Community

When women open heartedly show up for other women the most beautiful magic happens. Wanda Watson sponsored the Glow + Grow event because she wanted the girls in her community to know their voice matters and to believe in their dreams.

Luxe Event Decor & Co, Sweet Treats 757, and Carter Creations donated their time, talents, and resources to make this experience so special for our girls. Their contributions made this event top notch.

Foundations to Success provided scholarships to help make this event accessible to more girls.

We are in awe of this amount of generosity. đŸ©·đŸ’œ

Now let’s talk about the amazing young ladies we had the honor of working with. Some came a little quiet and shy but by the end of the night they all were so brave. They shared their experiences and their hopes and their dreams and supported each other.

I think each one of us left the room Saturday night feeling stronger, supported and more hopeful of achieving our big beautiful dreams.

We are the luckiest.

We are so excited that we are only one day away from bringing our amazing Glow + Grow experience to Virginia.

Confidence, connection, belonging and joy is the foundation of everything we’re going to experience tomorrow with our incredible group of girls.

We also have so many surprises for our attendees, thanks to incredible vendors that have offered to donate their services to make this experience even more memorable. (đŸ€« Shhhh
it’s a surprise so more details on that later đŸ€«) a special thanks to Wanda Watson Premier Business Solutions for sponsoring the event!

Confidence + Community = Glow & Grow

After wrapping up our Glow & Grow planning meeting, I couldn't resist asking our amazing ambassadors what makes this retreat so special. (Yes, our girls help plan everything to make sure it's exactly what you need!)

Hear it straight from them about how the Glow & Grow retreat has helped them manage anxiety, learn stress-relief tools, and build a beautiful community of supportive friends.

Every girl deserves a community like this. 💕

If any or all of these signs resonate, kudos to you for noticing. Noticing is the first step in making changes.

Life with a teenager can get so busy with day to day obligations and commitments.

Creating an intentional space for you and your teen can help open up the dialogue.

For me, as a mom those times can be in the car on the way home from something. Asking to take the dog for a walk with me or walking to get some froyo. Those times when it’s just her and I are when I learn the most about what’s going on in her life. The best part is that I never have to pry. Offering that quiet intentional space creates a natural opportunity for her to share and open up.

When that happens I just listen. I don’t give my opinion (which is not always easy) or offer any advice (unless she asks).

⭐ This shows her that it’s safe to share with you.

⭐ It gives her the opportunity to open up instead of bottling things up inside.

⭐ You have an understanding of what’s going on in her life which puts you in a better position to support her.

It’s not fancy and it doesn’t cost any money to create this kind of space for her. It is a priceless opportunity to support her and build an even stronger relationship with her. OUR GIRLS NEED US NOW MORE THAN EVER.

This week, we're going back to basics with a super simple, heart-centered activity that takes less than 30 minutes.

Your Intentional Connection Idea This Week:
Pull out some paper and markers and make "just because" cards together.
How it works:
* Each choose your person: Think of someone you want to brighten their day. You pick someone in your life, and have your daughter choose someone in hers. Maybe a grandparent, a favorite teacher, or a close friend.
* Write your notes: Sit side-by-side and write a quick message sharing something you love about them or a word of encouragement.
* Get creative: Pass the markers back and forth and decorate them together.

Not only does this give you phone-free, creative time together, but it models the power of intentional kindness in real-time. You aren't just teaching her how to make someone smile, you're doing it right beside her.

How often do you ask your girl, "How was your day?" and usually get a one-word answer. This week, let's try something different.

Your Intentional Connection Idea This Week:
Grab two journals (or just pieces of paper) and set a cozy stage. Lower the lights, grab a refreshing drink, and write together.

Try this simple prompt:
"If we could instantly transport ourselves anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would we go and what would we do?"

The Plan:
Write for 5 minutes without pressure, and then read your answers out loud to each other. Keep it light, keep it vulnerable, and just enjoy hearing her imagination work.

We don't need elaborate, expensive plans to grow closer to our girls. Going back to our roots, the most impactful moments are often the simplest.
Your Intentional Connection Idea This Week:
Pick a meal to make together from start to finish.

How to set the stage:
* Put on a playlist you both love.
* Divide up the tasks so you’re working side-by-side.
* Embrace the mess. The goal here is the shared rhythm, not a perfect meal.
The best conversations usually happen in the unstructured gaps while waiting for water to boil or waiting for the oven timer to ding.

Your Intentional Connection Idea This Week:

Take a 20-to-30 minute walk together. No agendas, no destinations, and absolutely no phones.

The Rules:
1. Let her lead: Let her choose the route, the pace, and the topic of conversation.
2. Practice total detachment: If she starts venting or sharing something surprising, resist the urge to coach, lecture, or fix it. Just listen.

When we step out of the "manager" role and just walk beside them, the magic happens. If you both love it, let this simple routine become your new weekly ritual.
