Hallsville is ready to celebrate Homecoming as the Homecoming Parade takes place today at 2 p.m. The community is invited to come out, line the parade route, and support Hallsville students, organizations, businesses, and community members.

The Hallsville Band and the City of Hallsville Police and Fire Departments will lead the parade, followed by:

PARADE ROUTE: The parade will begin near Hallsville Primary School, travel east on North Ricketts Road, continue south on Bertie Avenue, head west on East Highway 124, and finish near the Hallsville school campus.

Hallsville looks forward to seeing the community come together this afternoon to celebrate students, schools, and community during this special Homecoming tradition.

Every day, our Hallsville Middle School students pass by this special piece of history hanging in our hallways: a photograph sent to HMS by students at Marine Park Junior High in Brooklyn, New York, thanking them for their concern, support, and compassion after the events of September 11.

One can only imagine what our middle school students wrote to their peers in New York 25 years ago, letting them know they were thinking of them during an unimaginable time.

Twenty-five years later, this photo reminds us of the empathy, resilience, and unity that brought our country together.

Today we remember September 11, 2001, and honor the 2,977 lives lost. By a joint resolution approved in 2001, September 11th has been designated as Patriot Day, with flags lowered to half-staff in remembrance.

25 years later, we stand united in tribute. We honor. We remember.

Intermediate students are learning about computers!

As the school year has started, Hallsville Intermediate students have been going to Ms. Wildenhain’s class to learn about technology and how to use it! Using their school Chromebooks, they have been practicing typing skills and how to properly operate technology.

These skills will carry them through the rest of their educational career and help them study, learn new topics, and even succeed in the workforce someday.

Third grade students are making progress in writing!

Earlier in the week, students in Mr. Durk’s third grade class worked on enhancing their writing technique. They had a list of writing prompts, with one being to write their high school cadet, Colbie, as a superhero!

Whether Cobie was flying through the sky or defeating a supervillain, it was a great way to practice the usage of capitals, punctuation, and creating stories with lots of details.
