Strong families build strong communities, and today we celebrate the fathers who make that possible. Whether they're coaching from the sidelines, teaching life lessons, lending a helping hand, or simply showing up day after day, dads play an important role in shaping the next generation.

We're grateful for the fathers on our team and throughout our community whose hard work, dedication, and example make a lasting impact both at home and at work.

Wishing all the dads, grandfathers, and father figures a very Happy Father's Day. We hope your day is filled with family, laughter, and well-deserved appreciation!

June Tips on Watering Wisely💦
With unpredictable summer showers and dry spells, smart watering is essential for a lush, green lawn. Water deeply and infrequently. Aim for 1" to 1.5" of water per week, ideally in two sessions. Morning is best! Water between 4 AM and 8 AM to reduce evaporation and limit fungal disease. Check for dry spots and adjust sprinkler coverage if needed.

Tired of setting up, trying to remember when turn on AND OFF manual sprinklers? Give us a call, let’s put it behind you with a new system that gets the job done efficiently!

June 2026 arrives following probably one of the driest spring seasons in Southside Virginia history. The dry spring season was preceded by probably one of the coldest winters that our region has seen as well. It seems that we are setting all of the wrong records as far as weather is concerned. By this time of year it is safe to prune out any leftover winter damage and to clean up material that may have also experienced die back from the dry spring season.

As dry as it has been, avoiding severe prunings at this time is a good idea. Many plants, trees and shrubs are experiencing stress already due to the drought and a regenerative type pruning on anything right now could cause things to get worse. Until we receive some much needed rainfall, minor pruning and shaping would be the thing to do now.

Here we are in May, the season is shifting into high gear, but Southern Virginia is also facing some unusually dry conditions. Our top priority this month is protecting the health of your landscape while preparing your outdoor living spaces for summer enjoyment.

Here is what you need to know—and how we can help—this month.

Drought Defense & Water Conservation

With rainfall running low, managing environmental stress on your turf is critical.

Mowing Tall: You will notice us keeping the mowing decks a bit higher right now. Taller grass shades the soil canopy, reduces moisture evaporation, and protects the root system from the baking sun.

Smart Watering: If you have an irrigation system, deep, infrequent watering is the best strategy. Let us know if you need an irrigation audit to check for leaks or misaligned heads to ensure every drop is maximized without violating local drought guidelines.

Limit Foot Traffic: Drought-stressed grass struggles to bounce back. Try to limit heavy foot traffic or recreational activities on highly stressed areas to prevent permanent damage to the turf crowns.
