Hello all,

Taylor's 75th anniversary will live on in various ways; I wanted to share a few of those with all of you. Please pass this message on to those who you feel would want to hear from us.

Shea Family I took on a new and significant appreciation for the work and sacrifices of the Shea family as I prepared for this event. We plan to honor the family with the installation of a glass display case within the Shea that will display artifacts of that family's contributions and the plaques that reflect the teachers who receive those awards. I have asked that Dianna to set that project in motion. Rudy and Raul are in the loop as well.

The Mission Bell The short film documentary detailing Taylor's history 1939-2015, is by no means a work of art, it merely attempts to capture some of what the Taylor transformation has looked liked over the years. If ever I was to declare a theme for our school's history, it would be something to the effect of the progressive nature of the school, one that is cutting edge, that has to be as it enters new eras every few years, and yet all that progressivism is spurred on by the significant and gritty contributions of teachers and students who really make the place what it is. The film is now shared on google docs, you can access the film, and download it from the cloud HERE:

https://drive.google.com/a/millbraeschooldistrict.org/file/d/0B5TYeDvfRWJ-ZnJyOFBRMlZRcDQ/view?pli=1

After our school website goes through the transition in needs to go through, we will post the film there as well. Otherwise, it will forever reside in Google docs.

Time Capsule Work began today on the wall installation outside the main office near the entrance to the school, where the time capsules will be placed and sealed away on display with other historical artifacts, behind glass, so it will be viewable through the year 2039, when we anticipate it being opened. We will announce when we will be having a small ceremony sealing the time capsule as soon as construction on the space is completed, we are currently preserving all of the artifacts and stuffing the time capsules!

Memorabilia During our search for artifacts to present at the celebration, we found many of our pre-construction distinguished school, blue ribbon school, awards and recognitions, and other items that deserve posting in and around the main office, and throughout the campus. You will see many of those items grace Taylor's walls and display cases over the next few weeks.

Historical Artifacts We will be creating a trophy case of memorabilia, awards, pictures, and yearbooks in the glass case that sits just inside the main library door. Many of these materials were rescued by some of you from the library, it is fitting that they be returned to it. All other artifacts will be used throughout the campus or stored safely as needed. Many other artifacts have been returned to their owners who loaned them for the event.

Facebook will continue to be the place where photos taken at the event as well as any comments will reside, please visit soon for links to great pictures from the event.

MCTV will continue to play the feeds from the 75th anniversary, interviews with many of us who attended, and of the short film, those locally and many who could not attend will get a sense of the event of Taylor history with those broadcasts.

Student Projects can be found linked below, the work of our film class students under the direction of Ms. Plank, featuring short movies detailing Taylor's history.

Thank you all,

Phil Hophan, Principal
