Why we do what we do...
As parents, we do our best to help our children thrive intellectually, creatively, and emotionally. We provide "roots" for grounding, sustenance and nurturing for growth, and, finally, space so that our children may reach their highest potential. However, sometimes things do not go as planned and our children struggle with the academic, behavioral, and/or social-emotional
concerns related to school. Often navigating the "system" becomes overwhelming and frustrating for parents. Sometimes even when parents enjoy a positive relationship with their child's educators, it may feel like the school is speaking another language. It is not unusual for parents to feel a "disconnect" between home and school which will grow when there is poor communication.
We can help you to "connect the dots" between home and school because we understand your perspective as parents and speak the same "language" as educators. Our goal is to facilitate communication, support collaborative problem solving, and guide a process that will enable your child to thrive.
PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL PHILOSOPHY:
My goal is to provide both optimistic and pragmatic support so that collaboratively, we move from ‘what is’ towards ‘what can be’.
My professional practice, teaching, and advocacy work recognizes the importance of honoring the whole person: To thrive, one must be safe, healthy, supported, respected, and challenged. Interconnectedness and collaborative problem solving is essential for transformative and sustainable change in individuals, families, and systems.
