Denton Dearman from West Harrison Middle School competed in the 2026 Bassmaster Junior High School Open at Sam Rayburn Reservoir in Jasper, Texas against 25 other teams.

Denton placed 7th and turned in a 5 fish limit with a total weight of 12.6 lbs. His 7th place finish qualified him for the Bassmasters Nationals to be held at Kentucky Lake in Tennessee on July 24 and 25.

The West Harrison Bass Fishing Team competed in the Bassmasters Back Bay Tournament on February 21, 2026.

Denton and KK Dearman turned in a five fish limit weighing 6.51 lbs and placing them in 11th out of 36 boats in the high school division.

Ty and Kayleigh Gutweiller turned in 3 fish with a total weight of 2.44 pounds.

The West Harrison Canes Fishing Team fished the Bassmasters High School Bass Nation Tournament out of the Pascagoula River on January 10, 2026.

In the junior division, Ty Gutweiler finished 10th out of 19 boats with 3 fish weighing 3.36 pounds.

In the high school division, Denton and KK Dearman finished 19 out of 32 boats with a five fish limit weighing 6.18 pounds.

The West Harrison Hurricanes Bass Fishing Team competed in the South Mississippi Bass Master tournament on the Pascagoula River on November 8th, 2025. Noah Ladner and Chance Mullett fished hard and turned in 4 fish with a total weight of 4.66 lbs. Denton and KK Dearman turned in a 5 fish limit with a total bag weight of 7.99 lbs and placed 2nd in the High School division out of 48 teams and taking home a check for $430.

Denton and KK also finished out the Fall season with the South Mississippi Bass Masters division in 3rd place overall in points. KK, Denton, Noah, and Chance qualified for Bassmasters State Championship. All teams will compete in the Spring season to try to qualify for the National Championship.

We are very proud of our West Harrison anglers and look forward to our Spring season.

Reminder today is the last day to sign up for the Pascagoula River High School Bass Tournament on Saturday November 8th!

The West Harrison Bass Fishing Team fished in the South MS Bass Nation Tournament held at Pearl River on October 18. There were 36 teams in the tournament. Denton and Kelsie Dearman placed 10th with 3 fish weighing 5.19 lbs. Noah Ladner and Chance Mullett placed 22nd with 2 fish weighing 2.47 lbs. Great job!
