We've got some more pictures for today!
CSA has prepared signed t-shirts for graduating Chinese students! CSA reps went to some fav professors of each graduate and got them to write down their wishes for the graduates. This weekend we held two sessions for students to sign the t-shirts. We really appreciate all of you who came and wrote/drew down something for the graduating Chinese students. ❤

Hi everyone,

The following is CSA's official response to a racist incident that happened between Chuong Garden and three Grinnell Chinese students.

On Apr. 6, 2018, while the three Chinese students were dining at Chuong Garden, a misunderstanding occurred between them and a waitress. During the incident, involved students experienced racial discrimination from the waitress and subsequently brought this to CSA's attention. CSA started investigation and negotiation with Chuong Garden the day after receiving the complaints thereof. With Chuong Garden's cooperation, we were able to reach a conclusion, with which the targeted students were satisfied. The owner of Chuong Garden has, on behalf of the restaurant, expressed their sincerest apology of their employee's racist and unprofessional behaviors. A photo of the statement made by Chuong Garden that is hung on their storefront is attached below.

CSA strives to help create a hate-free community for all Grinnell students, but we could not do it without your help. CSA expresses our gratitude to Karen Klopp Edwards and Brenda Strong from Grinnell International Student Affairs (OISA), Associate Dean of Students and Director of Intercultural Affairs, Maure Smith-Benanti, and Chinese Department for their support in resolving this incident and to Grinnell students and faculties who showed their caring and support.
