Tang Soo Do: Karate for Christ

Tang Soo Do: Karate for Christ Tang Soo Do: Karate for Christ is taught by Dr. Michelle Ratliff. Women's Self-Defense. Tang Soo Do is a traditional Korean martial arts style. We are motivated!

The Tang Soo Do programs include Little Dragons 3-5 year olds, Future Black Belts, Family Program, and Mom-Fu! Tang Soo Do: Karate for Christ is owned and operated by Dr. Michelle Worth, 5th Dan in Tang Soo Do and 1st Dan in Tae Kwon Do. It is affiliated with Karate for Christ International. It provides a safe environment for students of all ages. It provides optimal learning by the instructor th

rough belt ranks. Each rank consists of forms, one-step sparring, self-defense, and memorization. Since it is a Christian-based program, memorization of most belt ranks focus on Bible scripture. There are different programs that potential students can sign up for. They are Little Dragons (3-5 year olds), Future Black Belts(6 and up), and the Family Program (family discount). I also have Mom-Fu Women's Self-Defense of the first Saturday of the month. We have various activities for youth including pizza parties, movie nights, and summer programs. This is important because it keeps youth off the streets and in a safe, controlled environment. We are also active in fundraising to get our students to tournaments. We are active with the community in donating food, clothes, and time to nonprofit organizations. We hold Kick-A-Thons to raise money for St. Jude and other nonprofits. My vision of the Tang Soo Do Program is to ultimately decrease at-risk behaviors of youth and adults by providing a safe environment where everyone can grow in a positive way. In fact, one could consider the student creed as an in-depth description of the vision. The student creed is as follows:

I intend to develop myself in a positive manner and to avoid anything that would reduce my mental growth or my physical health. I intend to develop self-discipline in order to bring out the best in myself and others. I intend to use what I learn in class, constructively and defensively, to help myself and my fellow man, and never to be abusive or offensive. This is a black belt school! We are dedicated! We are on a quest to be our best!

This is why I spend the whole month of August educating children about bullying, the effects of it, and anti-bullying strategies!!!

David Crawford, a Jackson High School senior and ROTC Cadet of the Year, was found dead Tuesday on a walking trail near his home. His family says persistent bullying and harassment at school played a significant role in his death. The GBI is now assisting the investigation: https://www.13wmaz.com/article/news/local/family-says-bullying-preceded-jackson-teens-suicide/93-6043b4b1-3ce5-4acc-bbe4-06c5cda0780a?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_13_WMAZ

We had a great champions class this evening! We perfected our belt kicks as well as our forms. We ended class by the students talking about changing our programming. Changing our brain to think more positive and how to help others who may not have confidence to change their mindset to a more positive one.

This program is very close to my heart. I want to fight trafficking by teaching women and children how to protect themselves. This program is offered monthly. Women, it’s time that you weaponize yourself against anybody who would try to hurt you and take you away from your families. This is something that you don’t want to miss!
