Have been enjoying filling in with Poet Voices on a couple of weekends recently. Being back on the stage in a different sounding environment each night is a “blaring” reminder that over singing can happen very easily, especially when the sound is loud and there are 1,600 people listening and responding. Stay grounded in your technique so that you can stay strong vocally through the set! God bless, and never stop singing!

When it comes to singing, what have come to be the expectations from audiences? For example, Idina Menzel performed "Let It Go" on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve and when she missed the iconic high note, she was lambasted across Twitter and the internet. Here is my question. Why is 100% perfection expected from professional musicians, but not from other professionals? For example, a .400 batting average is the bar for an amazing baseball slugger. A free throw average of 85% is incredible in basketball. I could go on and on, but when it comes to performing music, we have been brainwashed into thinking that if it's not 100% accurate, it's not good at all. Professional musicians hold themselves to the highest standard, striving for perfection, but at the same time, if the audience expected what they do from athletes, the music would be horrible. We are all humans with good days and bad days, but remember that your favorite singer/musician is not perfect.

I could make so many more comments here, but I think I will stop now.
