Not tallow related but a cucumber tip! Wash and cut ends of cucumbers. Store them in a bowl of water in your fridge. They will last a very long time and be nice and crisp!

This is not tallow related but I thought I’d share a little piece of our homestead.

This is Napoleon, our bantam Rooster. We adopted him from a neighbor after their other bigger Roosters were not being very kind to him. He hops instead of walks/runs. He lost all of his toes to frost bite before we got him.

After being attacked by so many roosters I can’t count I didn’t want one. I very hesitantly agreed to Napoleon a year ago. Since then, he has been the most non confrontational free range rooster I have ever seen.

He also is inspirational and hilarious to watch. 🤣

Making a little change to our jars. It has come to our attention that the lids to our jars tend to crack if tighten even a bit too much.

We are taking this as an opportunity to change to jars you can reuse for canning your harvest! Reusing and repurposing is something we love to do!!
