Germany was one for the books! Students thoroughly enjoyed learning about the culture and the language! A German meal was definitely a highlight for the kids. Following recess students were invited to a meal at the “Little Brat House.” Studens enjoyed smoked bratwurst, whole rye bread, spaetzle, Swabian egg noodles, cheddar cheese schupenudeln, German style sauerkraut and peroga. During their last day in Germany studens learned the history of gingerbread houses and how the tradition began in Germany. They were able to put their creativity to work and make and decorate their own gingerbread house. A huge thank you to Elizabeth Perkins Hendricks, the gingerbread house master of Elk County! She came in with tricks and tips for the kids!
Students recently finished reading the “Nate Saint” story. A true story based on a Christian missionary pilot who along with four others was killed in Ecuador in 1956 while trying to evangelize the Huaorani people through Operation Auca. Students then got to Zoom with Joel Angyal who flew a flying car with Steve Saint, Nate Saints son. So many amazing stories were shared!
Students will be headed to Kenya next week! Looking forward to some homemade chapati and our guest speaker who grew up in Kenya!
