Hard to believe January is done. Did you have a plan for this year? Is it still on schedule?

Our January did not work out to plan. Over the past few months we have had a few expenses for a few thousand dollars each. Our emergency fund took a hit.
But the good news is that we had the funds and we moved on. It “hurt”. But we didn’t need the payment plans. We didn’t put it on credit cards. A few years ago that would not have been the case.

So January we stayed under budget in a few areas. In February we are budgeting to get most of that “repaid” to the emergency fund.
Things don’t always work out to our plan but for things to be an inconvenience instead of emergency feels good.

If I can help you get a budget started, come up with a plan to tackle the debt or help you start planning kids college or retirement (just plan I don’t help with any of the investing) let me know.

As the year comes to an end it is now a good time to take a step back and review your financials.
Do you still have debt? Do you have a plan to pay it off?
Do you have an Emergency Fund? Enough?
What are your next goals?

HO HO HO Merry Christmas!

I don’t want to be the first to start talking about it, who am I kidding it is everywhere, but Christmas is just around the corner.

It is hard to believe but kids go back to school in just over a month….
While we are all busy enjoying the sunshine and time together don’t forget to start looking at July’s budget soon.
We have the 4th of July. Back to school shopping and probably some school expenses. Don’t let holiday’s and school surprise you.

You have probably noticed as I have - you are logging out at Amazon and they offer payments. Apple is starting to offer this with ApplePay. And I even heard of someone putting a meal or a drink on a payment plan.
That is a loan. They are allowing payments over a time period.
If you are living paycheck to paycheck - those payments will add up. Maybe it is $25 this week. But then 2 $25 payments next week. Then 3. All of a sudden your paying $100 a week.
If you have the money pay for it. If you don’t then don’t buy it!

Prepared. We need to be prepared for the next thing.

When you live paycheck to paycheck and need to find gas money in the cushions of the couch (young people probably don’t get that one - who uses cash and gets change)?? When gas goes up $.50 a gallon or eggs go up $1.00 a gallon it has a real affect on you. We need to prepare better.
What if you had no payments to credit card companies or car dealerships? What if you had an emergency fund?
Then those things become an inconvenience. Something to complain about with your neighbor. But they don’t keep you up at night.
