I'm proud to share some great news for Greenwich and for Connecticut. U.S. News & World Report's newest rankings place Greenwich High School as the #2 public high school in the state — trailing only Connecticut IB Academy in East Hartford, a selective magnet school of roughly 200 students.
Connecticut continues to rank among the top states in the nation for public education, and today's news reflects years of work by so many people.
I'm proud to have served on the Greenwich Board of Education — including a year as chairman — alongside many dedicated colleagues who helped push our schools toward this result. One of my goals throughout that time was simple: make Greenwich High School the #1 high school in Connecticut, and our district the #1 school district in the state. We're closer than ever.
Congratulations to the Board of Education, our administrators, our teachers, and everyone across the district who made this possible. A special thank you to GHS Principal Ralph Mayo for his steady leadership.
Congratulations also to New Canaan High School, which came in at #6. And keep an eye on Stamford — with a new superintendent and a new Westhill High School on the way, I expect them to keep climbing the rankings too.
As I work to earn the honor of representing the 36th District in the State Senate, this is exactly the kind of result I'll keep fighting for — strong public schools, top to bottom, across Greenwich, New Canaan, and Stamford.
