Looking forward to playing this in February - Dvorak's Cello Concerto is one of my favorite pieces!
Written in 1894, Dvořák’s Cello Concerto in B minor stands as a defining work of the cello repertoire. The composer drew inspiration from his years in New York City and his travels through the American countryside, and he dedicated the concerto to his sister-in-law, Josefina Kaunitzová. In this masterpiece, Dvořák weaves the lyricism and rhythmic vitality of his Bohemian heritage together with the folk artistry he encountered in the United States, contributing to the emergence of a distinctly “American” musical idiom.
Join us on February 7th & 8th for performances of the Dvořák Cello Concerto featuring acclaimed soloist Tommy Mesa, whose compelling artistry offers a fresh perspective on this timeless masterpiece.
