The Journey of Gage Tatum Keith This page is to keep everyone updated on our sweet Gage & to tell the story of his life thus far. I'm Brandi Keith, Gage's mom. Here is our story.

On November 20, 2013 at 2:20 in the afternoon, Gage was born via emergency C-section at 35 weeks gestation. Besides being diagnosed with Intrauterine Growth Restriction at 30 weeks the pregnancy had been great! The doctor had trouble getting Gage out of the birth canal, considering he had already traveled 7 cm, and he swallowed a bit of amniotic fluid which caused him to need a ventilator the first day of life. We were in the NICU for two weeks. A geneticist had originally been called in to see him for some of his facial features but nothing wrong could be found at the time. Thus, we thought we were taking a normal baby home ,albeit preemie. At Gage's 4 month check-up he started displaying abnormal eye movements and we were sent directly to the hospital with what we thought were seizures. A trip to Greenville Children's Hospital, two spinal taps, two MRIs, numerous blood tests, a urinalysis, and a week later the only "answer" we had was Gage's diagnoses of Agenesis of the Corpus Collosum, which is simply the absence of the connecting tissue between the two hemispheres of the brain. He has received countless EEGs, sleep studies, therapies and visits to every specialist imaginable since. He was diagnosed with Failure to Thrive and remains in the 1% of height, weight, and head circumference. He is, however, proportionate. Numerous genetic testings have taken place and there is still no diagnosis at 14 months old. He receives Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and has an Early Intervention specialist. All who have seem to become a second part of our family. He cannot yet sit up, speak, wave "bye bye" or even hold his own head up. But he has plenty of personality, spunk and DETERMINATION!! We're working hard to give Gage every opportunity he has to be the absolute best he can be! We ask for prayer, positive thoughts, and good vibes. This page is meant to keep those updated who follow him. It's to share his story. I hope he captures your heart as much as he has taken over mine! :)
