This birthday feels a little different.
The last year has been hard. Like, really hard. Financially, there have been a lot of days where I honestly didn’t know how we were going to make everything work for our family of 12.
And somehow, this little business became so much more than “something I do.” It helped keep us afloat. Every box of macarons, every cookie, every market, every order—it mattered. Sometimes that money was groceries. Sometimes it was a bill. Sometimes it was just enough to get us through to the next week.
So when I look back at this year, I don’t really see some perfectly put-together small business story. I see a whole lot of late nights, stress, baking, markets, figuring things out as I went, and doing whatever I could to take care of my family.
I’m proud of that.
And I’m incredibly thankful for every single person who has bought something from me, shared my page, told someone about my business, or stopped by my booth. You may have thought you were just buying a box of macarons, but a lot of the time you were helping my family more than you knew.
Here’s to another year. Hopefully one with a little less survival mode and a whole lot more sales!
And yes we almost always buy a cake from the store because I’m usually too busy with orders to bake for us 😂
