What does progress look like?

Sometimes progress is easy to see—a higher test score, improved reading fluency, or a better grade.

Other times, it shows up in smaller moments.

It's the student who begins an assignment without immediately asking for help.

It's remembering a strategy and using it independently.

It's sticking with something that feels difficult instead of giving up.

It's realizing that making a mistake doesn't mean, “I can't do this.”

It's the growing confidence that comes from discovering, “I can figure this out.”

At Community Brain Lab, we value academic growth, but we also celebrate these moments. Our goal is to help students develop the skills and confidence they need to become stronger, more independent learners.

We currently have a few openings for new students. If you're looking for individualized support for your child, we'd love to talk with you about how Community Brain Lab can help.

🎉 Exciting news from NILD—and good news for the families we serve!

NILD's Educational Therapy training has been reaccredited by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) at the Accreditation Plus level, IDA's highest level of program accreditation.

Why does that matter to parents?

When your child struggles to learn, choosing the right help can feel overwhelming. There are many programs and approaches available, and it can be difficult to know which ones are grounded in sound research and rigorous professional training.

IDA accreditation provides families with an important measure of confidence. NILD's training has been independently evaluated against recognized standards for preparing professionals to work effectively with students with dyslexia and other reading difficulties.

For us at Community Brain Lab, this recognition affirms something we deeply value: struggling learners deserve intervention that is thoughtful, individualized, and grounded in strong professional standards.

We are proud to be NILD Educational Therapists, and we are grateful for the opportunity to put that training into practice every day as we help our students become stronger, more confident, and more independent learners. 🧠❤️

🌱 Community Brain Lab is growing!

We are excited to introduce the newest member of our team, Andrea Martindale!

Andrea successfully completed Level 1 NILD Educational Therapy training this summer and joins Community Brain Lab as our newest educational therapist.

Andrea brings with her a genuine passion for helping struggling learners. Her previous experience in a Montessori school provided an excellent foundation for her NILD training and for the individualized, thoughtful approach she brings to working with students.

As Community Brain Lab continues to grow, we are grateful to be able to expand our team and serve more students and families in our community. We are delighted to have Andrea as a part of Community Brain Lab, and we look forward to seeing the relationships she builds and the progress her students make.

Please help us give Andrea a warm welcome! ❤️

A new school year brings new teachers, new routines, and new expectations. It can also bring familiar struggles back to the surface.

As your child settles into the school year, you may begin to notice things like:

📚 Reading takes much longer than it seems like it should.

✏️ Homework requires a great deal of help, frustration, or negotiation.

🧠 Information that seemed to be learned yesterday is difficult to recall today.

⏱️ Your child understands the material but struggles to complete work efficiently.

😟 "I can't do this" starts becoming part of the conversation.

These struggles don't necessarily mean that a child isn't trying or isn't capable. Sometimes the difficulty lies in the underlying skills that make learning possible.

At Community Brain Lab, we look beyond the assignment or the grade to understand how a student is learning and where the breakdown may be occurring.

If this school year brings familiar concerns back to the surface, we'd be happy to talk with you about how we can help.

🎉 Good news for South Carolina families!

If your child receives funding through the South Carolina Educational Scholarship Trust Fund (ESTF), Community Brain Lab is an approved educational provider.

We are honored to partner with families by providing educational therapy, academic support, and early intervention designed to help students build confidence, strengthen the way they learn, and reach their full potential.

Choosing the right educational support for your child is an important decision, and we are grateful for the opportunity to serve families through the ESTF program.

If you have questions about using ESTF funds for our services, we'd be happy to help. We look forward to partnering with you on your child's learning journey.

One of the most encouraging conversations we have with parents begins like this:

"I know my child is capable of so much more."

Many students who struggle in school are bright, curious, creative, and full of wonderful ideas. Their difficulties are not a reflection of their intelligence.

Learning depends on many underlying cognitive skills. When those skills are strengthened through targeted intervention, academic learning often becomes easier and more efficient.

At Community Brain Lab, we look beyond grades to understand how a child learns. When we strengthen the learning process itself, students often gain the confidence they need to reach their potential.

Every child deserves the opportunity to learn with confidence.

We know...

🥵 It's 95 degrees.
🍉 You're still buying watermelon.
🏖️ Vacation mode isn't quite over.

The school calendar, however, is coming whether we're ready or not!

If your child could benefit from educational therapy, early intervention, or dyslexia testing, now is the time to enroll. Our fall schedule is already filling up, and we'd love to help your student start the school year with confidence.

Don't wait until backpacks are packed and the first homework assignment arrives.

📚 Community Brain Lab is now enrolling for the upcoming semester. Contact us today to learn more or reserve your student's spot!

Happy Read Across America Day! 📚✨

It is an exciting privilege to equip students with the skills they need to become confident readers while inspiring within them a true joy for reading. It’s never too early to spark a love of books — even the youngest learners can begin building a lifelong relationship with reading. Every step forward opens new worlds of learning and imagination, and we are honored to be part of that journey.
