Exciting Collaboration Alert!
This week, Dr. Naomi Weintraub, Professor at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, joined Dr. Denise Donica for a day at ECU to kick off a new research project. Dr. Weintraub brings a wealth of expertise in occupational therapy, particularly in handwriting and keyboarding skills. Dr. Donica is thrilled about this partnership and the innovative work ahead!

This week in HNRS 2002 Survey of Health Professions, 34 ECU Honors College students with aspirations of pursuing professions in health care got to learn about and experience Occupational Therapy with the help of the ECU Occupational Therapy Honors Society members, Pi Theta Epsilon. Occupational therapy is an amazing health care field where we get to help people by transforming their lives through the use of occupations.

Yesterday our inaugural cohort of OTD students, accompanied by Dr. Denise Donica, attended the North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy (NCBOT) meeting in Raleigh as part of their Leadership and Advocacy course.

“They were able to observe the business conducted by the board, learn about the Occupational Therapy Compact and witness a hearing,” Donica said. “The NCBOT's purpose is to protect the public and this was an amazing experience for them to witness state-level leadership in occupational therapy.”

Our Priority Fund provides services to patients with limited access to care through our Student Run Clinic as well as supports the implementation of the state's first, public OTD program.
