It’s September 1st, so we’re getting this money together. 🤎💛

For the first five days of September, we’re going back to the basics with a 5-Day Money Reset.

Day 1: KNOW YOUR NUMBERS.

Before you start cutting expenses, moving money around, or trying to save more, you need to know what you’re actually working with.

Today’s assignment is simple:

💰 Write down your monthly income
🧾 Write down your monthly expenses
👀 Look at the numbers and notice what stands out

That’s it. Don’t try to fix anything yet. Just get clear.

I created a FREE 5-Day Money Reset so you can follow along with me each day.

Want a copy? Comment RESET below, and I’ll send you the link to download yours. 🤎

We’re getting our money back on track one day at a time.

Day 1 starts today. Let’s do this. 💛

Okay, hear me out… September starts tomorrow, which means it’s time to check the budget before September starts checking us. 😂

What is one money goal you’re working on this month? Saving more, paying off debt, cutting back on eating out, or simply making it to October without financial foolishness?

So before Monday comes in here acting crazy… 😂 let’s get ourselves together a little bit.

Check the accounts.
Look at what’s due.
Think about groceries and gas.
Figure out what you have going on this week.
And give yourself a little bit of time to just sit down and get your mind right.

That’s it. We don’t need a three-hour Sunday planning session.

Just enough of a plan so Monday doesn’t catch us completely off guard. 😂

Are you somebody who plans your week on Sunday, or do you figure it out as you go?

Now listen, I’m not telling you to spend your whole Saturday budgeting. Absolutely not. 😂But give yourself a few minutes...

Now listen, I’m not telling you to spend your whole Saturday budgeting. Absolutely not. 😂

But give yourself a few minutes to look at what’s coming up next week.

Do we need groceries?
Is there a bill coming out?
Do we have something planned?
Is there an expense coming up that we conveniently forgot about? 👀😂

Handle that little bit of planning and then go enjoy your weekend.

What’s one thing you already know you need to prepare for next week?

Okay, before we start acting like that paycheck is brand new money… 😂😂

What already needs to come out of it?

Because see, that’s where we get ourselves sometimes. The deposit hits and suddenly we’re rich for approximately 17 minutes. 😭

Check the bills. Check what you spent this week. Put something toward savings if you can. THEN figure out what you actually have available to enjoy.

Anybody else have to remind themselves that the account balance and the amount you can actually spend are NOT the same number? 😂

You know what I wish we talked about more? Teaching kids about money BEFORE they become adults and have bills coming from every direction. 😂

And it doesn’t even have to be some big sit-down money lesson.

Let them help compare prices at the grocery store. Talk about why you’re saving for something instead of buying it right now. Let them decide whether they want to spend their money today or save it for something they really want later.

Those little conversations matter.

What’s something you wish somebody would’ve taught YOU about money when you were younger?

Listen… sometimes the budget isn’t the problem. It’s everything and everybody trying to get a piece of it. 😂

Going out because everybody else is going.
Buying something because you saw somebody else with it.
Saying yes when you KNOW you really need to say no.

And sometimes you really do have to be like, “That’s not in my budget right now.” 🤷🏾‍♀️

No long explanation. No guilt. No trying to make it work anyway.

Have you gotten better at saying no when something doesn’t fit your budget?

See, here’s the thing… you can’t really make a plan if you don’t know what you’re working with. 👀And I know sometimes we...

See, here’s the thing… you can’t really make a plan if you don’t know what you’re working with. 👀

And I know sometimes we do NOT want to look. 😂 But knowing your income, your bills, your debt, your savings, and what you’ve actually been spending gives you somewhere to start.

The numbers might not be where you want them to be yet, and that’s okay. We just need to know what they are so we can figure out the next move.

Which one are you paying the most attention to right now: spending, saving, or debt?

Back to the basics. 💵

Anytime I feel like I’ve been out here wilding a little too much with my spending, cash envelopes are one of the ways I get myself back together. 😂

I used cash envelopes HEAVY back around 2018–2020, and honestly, they really did help me get more control over where my money was going.

Baby, I KNOW I used to get on people’s nerves in those checkout lines. 😂 Everybody else pulling out their debit card and here I come digging through my envelopes trying to find the right cash.

But listen… it worked. 🤷🏾‍♀️😂

So we’re going back to what I know works for me. Sometimes you don’t need a whole new budgeting system. Sometimes you just need to go back to the basics.

Anybody else still use cash envelopes?

Okay, so before the week gets away from us… have you checked your money yet? 👀😂

Not saying you need to sit down and create some whole elaborate financial plan. Just check the account, see what bills are coming out, figure out what you have to work with, and go from there.

Sometimes that little 10-minute check-in will save you from a whole lot of “now where did my money go?” later in the week. 😂

What’s one thing you need to handle with your money this week?
