Registration for the 2026 John Coltrane Jazz Workshop has been extended through Friday, July 10th!

The John Coltrane Jazz Workshop is a week-long immersive jazz education experience for rising 7th–12th grade musicians. Rooted in the legacy of John Coltrane this camp is designed to elevate student musicianship by combining expert instruction, performance opportunities, & community engagement.

Dates: July 20–24, 2026 | 9 AM - 2 PM
Location: Penn Griffin School for the Arts High Point, NC

Scholarships are available for qualifying students.

Good news! Registration for the **2026 John Coltrane Jazz Workshop** has been **extended through Friday, July 10!**

The GMAJ Youth Jazz Ensemble had a wonderful time performing for the residents and staff of Journey Adult Day Center in Greensboro!

Our students were honored to share their music with the community and experience firsthand how the arts can bring people together across generations. Performances like these provide valuable opportunities for our young musicians to grow in confidence, develop their performance skills, and use their talents to brighten someone's day.

Thank you to Journey Adult Day Center for welcoming us and allowing our students to be a part of your day. We look forward to continuing to serve our community through music.

Today, we celebrate Juneteenth—a day that commemorates freedom, resilience, and the enduring contributions of African Americans to our nation's history and culture.

At GMAJ, we recognize the power of music as a means of preserving stories, honoring traditions, and bringing communities together. The rich legacy of jazz and so many other American musical traditions grew from the creativity, perseverance, and cultural contributions of those who came before us.

As we celebrate today, we encourage everyone to reflect, learn, and honor the journey toward freedom and opportunity.

This final session of the series brought together students, musicians, and community members for an evening of live jazz, interactive learning, and musical collaboration at The Crown at the Carolina Theatre.
