Special Education Legal Update - What You Need to Know Now!

The "Friend of Special Education" Award is given to recognize the lifetime achievement of an individual who has advocated for the needs of students with disabilities and their families by influencing the development of policy or legislation. NYCASE is a statewide professional organization of special education administrators dedicated to advocacy on policy issues that benefit students with disabilities and their families and providing professional development and networking for its members.
The Award was given at the NYCASE Annual Conference in July at the Crowne Plaza/Desmond Hotel in Albany NY.

Julie Weatherly Esq. has been selected as this year’s recipient of the Karen Norlander Award for Outstanding Legal Advocacy in Special Education. She was honored in Albany, NY recently at the organization’s Annual Summer Institute.

Julie Weatherly was nominated by the NYCASE Board. The award was established to honor Karen Norlander's legacy and is to be given annually to an attorney to recognize the lifetime achievement of an individual who has advocated for the needs of students with disabilities and their families by influencing the development of legal procedures, policy or legislation. This recognition honors the accomplishments, leadership and tireless advocacy of an individual on behalf of individuals with disabilities.
Julie J. Weatherly, Esq. is the owner of Resolutions in Special Education, Inc., a special education law and consulting firm in Alabama. Julie is a member of the State Bars of Alabama and Georgia and for thirty-nine years continues to provide consultation and legal representation to school agencies across the country in the area of educating students with disabilities
