Margaret McMillan was an early education pioneer in England at the beginning of the 20th century, “...campaigning for better health and education for the underprivileged children of England’s working class...

McMillan invented the term nursery school so that children would be nurtured via a daily inspection, outdoor learning, play, and healthy, balanced nutrition.” (naeyc.org)

Her thoughts on the role of nature in education still resonate strongly today.
