We bought a home that was built circa 1900, in the end of June 2024. It has interesting block cellar bsmt with 24 inch block walls. The first floor of the home has old light weight bigger than normal, bricks inside the walls. There is an exterior cellar entrance and a bsmt door in a recessed corner in the kitchen. The gentleman that lived here before tge previous owners passed away in the home. Prior to that, we dont know any history.
Simce June, we have had quite a bit of activity.
We had been using the summer kitchen as a living room, just off the back of the main kitchen, until it started getting cold out. Believe it isn't insulated. During this time, we would be watching tv and hear rustling of the bags in the bread basket. When you would look in kitchen it would stop. Atleast a couple of times a week. When my fiance would be alone in kitchen, never happens if anyone is in there with her. The bsmt door gets a hit sound and pops open. It hadnt happened in a while. I thought it wasnt getting shut tight. She had one episode she said it sounded as if soneone was hammering in the bsmt and she opened the door to it and said stop making that noise and it stopped. Well a few times the hit sound happened and it didn't pop, so it stopped for quite some time. Well this week, has been interesting. I have grow lights for her plants down in a side room in bsmt. The light shines out onto the floor so there is enough to make light on the floor at bottom of the stairs. I started down yesterday to get a tool and when I rounded the corner to go down. There was pure darkness. I flipped on light, got my tool and came back up. Then I realized it seemed different. So I was thinking maybe she shut the door to that room. Sp when I took tool back down, it was same. I looked hard into the darkness but couldn't even see bottom of stairs. So i flipped on light and went down to check. Door was wide open. Grow lights on like normal. I go up turn off light. Think to myself, this is odd. Later yesterday, when I open the door. Its back to normal. I tell her about it yeaterday when she got home. Also tell her how the night before this, I walked in the kitchen and something in the sink fell as I entered the kitchen. Floors in the house are fairly stable. She ended up being sick today and while I was outside she said tge bsmt door hit and opened again while she was cooking lunch. She also told me yesterday while I was working on stuff that doors kept being reopen upstairs that she had closed. The most disturbing incedent thus far has been the bell ringer. I'll
Tell that one in later posts along with others just for this home.
I have a ton of stories. My ex wife used to say I brought things hone with me. I've been plagued with things since childhood. People that don't believe learn to after being in a home with me very long. Anyway I will work on adding them as I have time. Please feel free to share yours as well. Thank you.
