It was a very tough night in the margins for the Tiger Cubs tonight, as some very good teams saw their state tournament runs come to an end in heartbreaking fashion.

The boys' soccer team lost its regional matchup to Danville in a penalty shootout after the game ended in a 1-1 draw after both regulation and 14 minutes of extra time. The team ended their season with a record of 15-2, and didn't suffer a regular time defeat the entire year, with both losses coming in penalty shootouts.

The girls' volleyball team also suffered a very tough loss to Parke Heritage in 5 sets tonight in the sectional at Southmont. The Tiger Cubs finish the year with a record of 21-7, and graduate NO seniors from this year's team that had an outstanding season.

Both teams also finish the year as Monon Athletic Conference champions!

The girls’ soccer team traveled to Triton Central tonight and defeated the host Tigers 2-0 to win a regional game for the first time in program history.

The 16-3 Tiger Cubs have advanced to the regional championship game against #6 ranked 15-4-1 Switzerland County. The game is Saturday at 2:00 pm at Southwestern High School in Shelby County.

The boys soccer team won its FIFTH straight sectional championship tonight, defeating Northview by the final score of 5-0 in a steady rain that lasted throughout the game.

The team will advance to the regional semifinal and will take on Danville at HOME on Thursday, October 15 at 6:00 pm.

The girls’ soccer team gave up an early goal in the sectional championship game against Monrovia, then turned around and scored 6 unanswered goals to win 6-1.

It is the 3rd sectional title in the last 4 years for the girls soccer program, and they will travel to Triton Central on Wednesday, October 14 to face the host Tigers in the regional semifinal at 6:00 pm.

Boys’ soccer defeated Brown County tonight in the sectional semifinal by the score of 4-0. The Tiger Cubs will attempt to win their 5th straight sectional championship on Saturday night at 7 pm against Northview at Edgewood.

Wednesday night state tournament update:

The girls soccer team defeated Bethesda Christian by the score of 4-0 to advance to the sectional championship. The Tiger Cubs will take on Monrovia at HOME on Saturday, October 10 at 2:00 pm in the championship game.

In boys’ tennis, the #1 doubles team of Cayden Scott and Liam Grimes won the individual sectional championship against their opponents from Martinsville, and have advanced to the regional on Saturday, October 17 at 10:00 am at North Central (Indianapolis).

#1 singles player Gavin Tyson had his fantastic season come to an end after falling to his opponent from Avon in a thrilling 3-set marathon match that lasted 3 hours.

Tuesday night state tournament update:

Boys’ tennis was defeated in a hard fought 3-2 match against Terre Haute North in the Avon Regional, BUT- #1 singles player Gavin Tyson AND the #1 doubles team of Cayden Scott and Liam Grimes both won their matches and have advanced in their respective individual state tournaments. Gavin will play Avon’s #1 singles player and Cayden/Liam will play Martinsville’s #1 doubles team Wednesday at 5:30 at Avon.

Boys’ soccer opened up the first round of the sectional by beating host Edgewood by the score of 5-2. The team will now play on Thursday at Edgewood at 6 pm against either West Vigo or Brown County.
