High school students, here’s your chance to give back to your community, build leadership skills, and support your educational goals!

The Student Service Challenge is now accepting applications. This exciting partnership between Clay County District Schools, Clay Education Foundation, the Florida Department of Education, and the Florida Lottery gives eligible high school students the opportunity to complete 20 or more new hours of community service and write an essay focused on civic responsibility and leadership.

Upon acceptance and completion, a limited number of eligible students may earn $500 toward their educational goals.

Did you know bicycles, e-bikes, and e-scooters have the same rights and responsibilities as motor vehicles on Florida roads? As our students ride to and from campus each day, staying alert and obeying all traffic laws is essential for everyone's safety.

Review these key reminders from our partners at the Clay County Sheriff's Office, Florida:

Obey Signs & Signals: Stop at every stop sign and follow all traffic lights.

Slow Down in School Zones: Reduce speed around schools and always yield to pedestrians.

Cross Predictably: Cross intersections slowly, avoid distractions, and make eye contact with drivers before crossing.

As our students head to and from school, safety on the roads is top priority. August is e-Bike Safety Month, and Clay County District Schools is sharing these important Florida law reminders from the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

Key Road Rules for Students & Parents:

* Helmets Required Under 16: Any rider under age 16 MUST wear a properly fitted helmet when operating an e-bike or e-scooter.

* E-Bikes: Must feature operable pedals, a seat, and a motor capped at 28 mph.

* E-Scooters: Limited to a maximum of 3 wheels and motor speeds capped at 20 mph.

* E-Motos: Vehicles without pedals capable of exceeding 28 mph require a driver's license, vehicle registration, insurance, and extra protective gear.

* Equal Road Rules: Bicycles, e-bikes, and e-scooters share the same rights and responsibilities on Florida roads as motor vehicles.

Even when a helmet isn't legally required for older riders, wearing one is always the smartest defense. Please take a moment to review these guidelines with your student before they ride to school! 💚🚲
