Mrs. Lockman's 4th graders took on the Messages Across the Sea Glider Challenge and put their engineering minds to work! Students designed, built, tested, and improved their own message gliders while exploring how shape, balance, and the forces of flight affect performance.
The learning didn’t stop when the gliders landed! Students measured the distance of each flight, recorded their data, and plotted their results on a graph to look for patterns and trends. They compared what worked, what didn’t, and used their evidence to decide how they could improve their designs.
The best part? They discovered that an unsuccessful flight isn’t a failure; it’s data for the next design! Our RAM pirates are learning to think like real engineers: test, analyze, redesign, and try again.
Creativity + Science + Math + Growth Mindset = Learning that takes flight!
