☀️ What a way to end the year!
This week was one for the books… we celebrated our 5k and 8th grade graduates and our 3rd and 6th years moving up students, we facilitated field day with games, laughs, and nonstop fun, and capped it all off with the most amazing end-of-year family bash!
From relay races and water activities to proud tears during the ceremony, this week had it ALL. These kids worked so hard and deserve all the smiles!
It truly takes a village, and ours is the absolute best!! Here’s to an incredible summer and an even brighter New Leaf ahead! 🌟

Paint from dandelions? Ball runs with baskets? Obstacle courses from tires? So much more!
What an incredible new adventure for our students!
Over three amazing days, three groups of our students had the opportunity to experience Timbernook- a nature program that is truly one of a kind!
It all started with a short story to set the stage and spark the theme of play and from there…our kids absolutely TOOK OFF! Their imaginations ran wild, their creativity soared, and the magic that unfolded in that outdoor space was something truly special to witness. Our student culture is unmatched!
The best part? The Timbernook guides pulled us aside to share how impressed they were and shared how quizzical, curious, and creative our students were! 🙌 We couldn’t have been more proud.
Parents and staff were asked to take a step back and let the kids lead. No interruptions, no redirecting…just pure, uninterrupted, child-driven play. And how beautifully Montessori is that? Trusting children to explore, discover, and create on their own terms is at the very heart of what we believe in and watching our students rise to that freedom was absolutely magical.
This is exactly the kind of learning experience that reminds us why we do what we do and why we are New Leaf.
Our students came back to school wet from the creek, muddy from the woods, but happy and balanced. I came home everyday amazed at my observations from learning about our student body way more than within the classroom. Three field trips in a row is a lot, I am tired, but these three days really showed how New Leaf prepares the whole student. I am proud to be a part in providing that in our community! Our teachers are doing a phenomenal job!

🌸 Happy Mother’s Day! 🌸
Today we celebrate TWO kinds of extraordinary women in our students’ lives…the ones who love them at home, and the ones who love them in the classroom.
To every mom, grandmother, auntie, guardian, and special woman who raises, nurtures, and cheers on our students, thank you. You are their first teacher, their greatest safe place, and their biggest reason to keep going.
And to our incredible female teachers, the women who show up every single day with patience, purpose, and a whole lot of heart. The way you care for New Leaf’s children as if they were your own is a gift we will never take for granted.
It truly takes a village, and we are so blessed to have such an amazing one. 💛
Happy Mother’s Day to every special woman shaping the lives of our students; at home and in the hallways.

Happy First Birthday!
Laser has spent the past year wiggling his gills, floating mysteriously, and stealing all of our hearts. We couldn’t imagine New Leaf without him! 💙
Here’s to another year of being absolutely axolotl-y adorable. 🥳

Professional Development Days! Our staff are all attending The Montessori Event, where inspiring Montessorians share their wisdom and expertise across a vast range of topics. Although we are attending virtually, you could still hear the conversations, insights, and passion in the halls during breaks. We got together for the opening session and then went down our own individual paths. Our staff are ready to bring even more intentional learning to our students! This is what growth looks like!
PS. Shoutout to our incredible PTO for making these awesome shirts!

Dear New Leaf Community,
The cold never bothered her anyway, but it’s bothering us!
Due to Blizzard Elsa and the dangerous winter conditions sweeping through our area, there will be
NO SCHOOL tomorrow, Tuesday, March 17th.
It seems Elsa has let it go… all over our roads, sidewalks, and parking lots, making it unsafe for students and staff to travel. We ask that everyone stay home, stay warm, and let the storm work its magic (from a safe distance, of course).
See you all Wednesday!

SNOW DAY ALERT!
Due to Blizzard Elsa, there will be NO SCHOOL at New Leaf tomorrow: Monday, March 16th!
Here are some fun ways to learn through the magic of snow…
🔬 SCIENCE EXPLORER
Bring a cup of snow inside and watch it melt! Talk about what you observe: how long does it take? How much water does it make? Compare a big scoop vs. a small one!
🎨 SNOW PAINTING
Fill spray bottles with water + a few drops of paint or fruit coloring (water with raspberries, beets, herbs) and let your little ones paint the snow.
📏 PRACTICAL LIFE & MATH
Use measuring cups or rulers to measure snowfall in different spots around the yard. Which area got the most snow? Graph it together!
🌿 NATURE JOURNALING
Head outside (bundled up!) and sketch snowflake patterns, animal tracks, or the winter landscape. Observation is the heart of Montessori!
❄️ SENSORY SNOW TRAY
Bring snow inside in a bin and add small scoops, funnels, and cups. Pouring and transferring snow is a wonderful fine motor activity for your youngest learners.
🍵 COZY COOKING
Make a warm cup of hot cocoa together! Practice pouring, measuring, and stirring because real life is the best classroom.
Wishing all our New Leaf families a safe, cozy, and joyful snow day!
We’ll see you Tuesday! 💚
