A space designed for future physicians, now with a story told through color.
Created by UNC alumnus Armando Silva’10, the mural brings anatomy, art and the human experience together inside the College of Osteopathic Medicine.
The piece is more than a visual addition to the new college. It reflects the connection between understanding the human body and caring for the people behind it.

On July 24, we celebrated the grand opening of the University of Northern Colorado College of Osteopathic Medicine alongside community members, partners and supporters, marking a milestone moment for osteopathic medical education and the beginning of a new chapter for future physicians.
The celebration included the ribbon cutting ceremony and White Coat Ceremony for UNC COM’s inaugural class, commemorating the start of their journey into medicine.
We are grateful for everyone who helped make this historic moment possible.

Meet Rahul R. Deshmukh, PhD, associate professor of pharmacology at the UNC COM.
With a background in pharmacy, Dr. Deshmukh focuses his research on cancer drug discovery and development, including immuno-oncology, proteasome inhibition, drug repurposing and natural product-based therapies.
At UNC COM, he is working to advance cancer pharmacology research and strengthen medical education through innovation and collaboration.

Before there was the College of Osteopathic Medicine, there was Bishop-Lehr Hall. As UNC COM takes shape on this site, pieces of that history remain. From the stone incorporated into the entrance planter to the Bishop-Lehr cornerstone, we preserved that connection to what stood here before.
