🚨 A WEEK OF HORSES TRYING TO COLLECT THEIR LIFE INSURANCE 🚨
We're convinced our horses have formed a committee.....and the committee's sole purpose is to see how many gray hairs they can give us before the end of the season. 🤦♀️
It all started with Whiskeys emergency trip to the farrier for a very ugly cracked foot followed by a couple days of lameness... 🙄
Then Zeus deciding to have a random nosebleed. Great... horses get nosebleeds too... Who knew? 🤷♀️
Blood pressure: 📈 🫠
Then our beloved Kailani—who we have lovingly named our Bubble Wrap Horse—remembered she'd been sound for almost five whole minutes after 4–5 months of rehab and said, "Absolutely not."
She promptly strained herself in the pasture...
AND... may have been visited by a mountain lion (or some other oversized murder kitty) during the night. 😳
So naturally, after some research, we responded in the most professional manner possible...
After strategically placing a kitty slaying mule in her pen... 🫏 🤺⚔️🛡
We went ahead and put on our headlamps in the wee hours of the night and...
🛒 Hung Walmart grocery bags everywhere
🧴Sprayed bleach around the entire coral 💦
📹 Put up game cameras 🎥
💡 Turned the corral into a landing strip💡
👕 And we may have sacrificed some of Gabriel's favorite high-vis shirts to the wildlife gods... 🙄
OSHA would be proud 👌
Laddie apparently didn't appreciate all the attention Kailani was getting and woke up with a leg the size of a tree trunk 🤦♀️
Thanks buddy🫡
Ice boots went on, and both patients earned themselves a trip to the vet! 🎉
Because apparently that still wasn't enough excitement... 🤥
While out on a tour, Zeus started acting... off 🤔
He kept wanting to stop and lay down, so we hopped off several times to check him over and scratch him 🤷♀️ Once we made it back to the cabin and pulled his saddle, we realized he was absolutely drenched in sweat 😰😳
Our hearts sank... 😓
We suspected colic, but didn't want to alarm our guests...
As luck would have it, one of our riders worked in animal medicine and she was onto our suspicions 👀
Once untacked, Zeus laid down and looked pretty miserable, so we gave him Banamine while talking with the vet.
We honestly couldn't have asked for a more understanding group. They happily swapped horses, hung out at the cabin with us, and helped us keep an eye on Zeus while we made sure he was okay. We are incredibly thankful for such compassionate guests 🙏
They somehow remained calm despite watching our high speed veterinary care 😅
"IM NOT PANICKING" 😱 🤣
They seriously deserve a medal 🏅 🫡
They rolled with every change, never complained once, and helped us keep an eye on our favorite dramatic patient 💅
Meanwhile Zeus was personally offended that the vet took his grain away for 24 hours.
Water?
❌ Garbage.
Hay?
❌ Insulting.
Grain?
✅ The only acceptable answer... 🙄
Gabriel may or may not have thought Taylers kitty prevention was ridiculous... But he still did it and he documented every step of the way 😆
✔️ Turned in the evidence to prove he had indeed done everything he was asked to do 👌 😂
The good news?
❤️ Zeus made a full recovery.
❤️ Kailani is healing
❤️ Laddie is healing
❤️ Gabriel still has at least one high-vis shirt left 🤣

✔️ Bubble Wrap Horse bubbled 🫧
✔️ Emergency vet visits ⚕️🥼🚑🏥🩺
✔️ Colic on a tour 🤢🤒😷🤧💉
✔️ 17 minor heart attacks 📈
✔️ Everyone lived 🙌
We're starting to think our horses have confused us with emergency room staff...
