Excited to announce that as of this morning, Shurtz Music Studio is officially a Braintree Approved Vendor through Camas Prairie Performing Arts! This means if your student uses BrainTree academy you can submit your tuition invoice from the parent portal for direct payment. Contact Tiffany with any questions.

Excited to be part of this endeavor for the Youth of the Camas Prairie!

Calling all youth ages 5-18 interested in theater performaces! Prairie Youth Theater at Camas Prairie Performing Arts is excited to announce that we have been granted licensing rights for The Best Christmas Pageant Ever The Musical-JV!

We will host an audition workshop on Friday October 3, 2025 from 10am-12pm at Stars Dance Academy in Grangeville. Come learn a song, dance, rehearse scenes, and receive feedback from directors. Cost is $15 for the workshop. Not sure if its a good fit? This workshop is a great way to try it out youth theater and see if this is something that you want to be involved in.

We can’t wait to perform this show with you!

Did you know that Let’s Play Music was created to solve a specific dilemma?

We know piano has a star role in early musicianship education, but children don’t have full development and control of motor function in their hands and they don’t know their letters until about age 8. 🤲 Should we avoid teaching piano to children until they are 8? 🎹

NO!

👂Children are most sensitive to hearing pitches and laying aural connections when they are age 0-4. The sensitivity decreases as children near age 9. If we start piano lessons at age 8 we have lost most of that precious learning window.

We need to start teaching music as early as possible, and using the right tools. That’s why LPM was created! We introduce staff reading without the use of letters and use tone bells (in first year) so fingers don’t have to be on the keyboard.
