What if- now hear me out- you started enjoying it now?
What if you didn’t give yourself stipulations or goal posts you had to hit before you allowed yourself to relax and enjoy your summer?
Here are two truths you need to hear:
1️⃣ your kids are going to complain no matter what you do or how thinly you stretch yourself, it’s just what they do.
So give yourself the opportunity to recharge so that those complaints don’t feel like a personal attack. Their enjoyment of the opportuniites you offer them is not a reflection of you, it doesn’t mean you need to do “better” next time.
2️⃣ most of those obligations you have are bottomless, especially in the summer.
The dishes, laundry, and food prep are never-ending when your kids are home full time. Trust me, I’ve homeschooled my kids for 3 years now and I can attest to the never-ending supply of dirty clothes, dishes in the sink, and insatiable appetites.
That’s why I think the goal isn’t to get everything done. It’s to create simple systems that leave room for the life you’re trying to enjoy.
📝Maybe that looks like assigning chores.
🗓️Maybe it looks like deciding what can wait until tomorrow.
🧠Or maybe it looks like taking one thing off your mental load entirely.
That’s exactly why I created The Summer Table—to make dinner one less thing you have to figure out after a full day of making memories.
It’s full of simple, low-effort meals and practical tools to help you spend less time stressing in the kitchen and more time enjoying your family.
Because summer shouldn’t end the moment someone asks, “What’s for dinner?” Comment SUMMER and I’ll send you the link. ☀️
