Meet Head Coach and Owner Chili Jamison

Chili started training in the 10th Planet system in 2009 and never looked back. Growing up as a wrestler, he quickly fell in love with the intensity and competitive nature of MMA. It was during his time as an MMA fighter/coach that Chili was introduced to 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu. He was immediately drawn to the unorthodox techniques and unconventional approach to grappling that the system offered. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced competitor, Coach Chili is committed to helping you achieve your goals in Jiu Jitsu. He is a firm believer in the transformative power of the sport, and he works tirelessly to help his students develop not just as athletes, but as individuals as well.

Its been a real pleasure to watch you grow!

I’ve watched Daniel navigate the most difficult version of this journey: training in the gaps, balancing school at Michigan State, and piecing his game together across different mats and narrow windows of training time. Still always down to test himself on the comp floor. Hes won every tournament hes entered no matter what the difficulty is set at. Has only lost once in competition to this point and coming off a weekend where he took down a $1,000 open-weight cash tournament —competing with zero ego, just pure grit and technique.

This past weekend we hosted our first women’s-only no-gi jiu jitsu class at 10th Planet Grand Rapids, and it was exactly what it was meant to be.

We focused on fundamentals, movement, and controlled positional sparring so everyone could experience what training actually feels like without pressure to “perform” or already know what they’re doing.

No one needed to be fearless.
They just needed to start.

Huge respect to everyone who stepped onto the mats for the first time and trusted the process. That first class is never easy!

This won’t be the last one. If you’ve been curious, unsure, or waiting for the right entry point, keep an eye out.
