I provide professional tutoring and consultation services: one-on-one or group, online or in person, and social book clubs. Services offered:
Individual reading tutoring: starts at $30/session, can be online or in person. I begin by assessing the child's needs, and creating a plan with their parent/caregiver. I create personalized lessons, and am flexible to change as new needs arise. I offer encouragement and create a stress free environment, I want the child to feel comfortable to make mistakes, take risks, and feel free to grow. Group sessions: starts at $5/session
I can work with small groups doing reading intervention, focused in the areas of phonics, fluency, and comprehension, or a more narrowed focus depending on the group. I can also facilitate a social reading group that encourages the children in their daily reading and provides a social outlet once a week, similar to a book club. Consultation- Sometimes parents just want a second opinion! I'm here for you, I can sit down with you and discuss a reading plan for success that would work best for you and your child. Every home is different, every child and family has different needs, I can help guide you to create something that will work in your home. Consultation starts at $40/session. I also offer follow ups, and check ins for the child, to help with accountability, sometimes it's nice for them to have another adult to be accountable to. Is your child struggling to decode words?😔
Regular practice with phonemic activities greatly benefits all children. Parents can engage their child in meaningful activities to boost these skills in a short amount of time. Here is an example (from Reading Rockets) of an activity you can do with no prep 😁work-
Syllable shopping
While at the grocery store, have your child tell you the syllables in different food names. Have them hold up a finger for each word part. Eggplant = egg-plant, two syllables. Pineapple = pine-ap-ple, three syllables. Show your child the sign for each and ask her to say the word.
